Topic. I tried to search this but I couldn't find anything.

Which profession, through use of skills or traits, can move across point A on the map to point B the fastest?

The only experience I have is as a necromancer, and between spectral walk and locust swarm I can keep swiftness up permanently. But then I have to take spectral walk.

thieves get swiftness on dodge roll and infiltrator arrow teleport.

Ele can also teleport and grant swiftness permanently through some tricky trait usage.

I'm pretty sure all professions can get a nearly permanent speed boost by using the right combo of skills and traits... Likely there are also consumables that grant speed boosts, though I haven't paid enough attention to this to be sure.

Probably an Ele or a Thief (high base movement speed + heartseeker spam (which IS faster than arrow porting)).

elementalist,followed closely by thief.elementalist can have permanent swiftness if they want,plus the dagger offhand wielders have "ride the lightning" a very efective skill for mobility.teleport is pretty much useless for traveling since it has quite a high cooldown

Like people said ele or thief. Thief imho is the "best" simply because of the 25% speed passive with 1 signet not locking you down to specific weapons and traits to reduce cooldowns and having to recast skills all the time, very handy for being lazy in PvE.

Not to mention things like steal, shortbow, and harpoon gun to basically blink around.

I was running with a pack of players in WvW and the thief shortbow got me from the back of the pack to the guy up front. I passed every 20 or so players playing a variety of professions.

Warrior can also maintain permanent swiftness without traits using warhorn 4 and Signet of Rage. They also get a 10% bonus move speed with 10 points into Discipline when wielding a melee weapon.

As an ele if you weapon swap through dagger offhand to staff mainhand, you can apply permanent swiftness, and a 1200 range mega zoom (Ride the lightning)
With 5 points down the Air traitline you also get 5 or 10% (forgot which one) movespeed when attuned to air, which you will be if your doing 'runs'

You can also swap between GS and sword to jolt forward with savage leap, whirlwind & rush.  Using the trait Forceful GS will reduce the recharge by 20%.

Hands down the engineer with runes of the centaur. 33% swiftness all the time for 20 secs at a pop.  Nothing even comes close cept maybe the theif at a passive 25%

Thief by a mile. 25% speed increase always with trinket. Infiltrator arrow, shadowstep, endurance regen on dodge. I'd put engineer second..constant swiftness. Then ele. Swiftness from glyph heal in water, plus from weapon abilities. People talk about ride the lightning, which is nice, but half the time it'll just target the nearest critter and send you at it...sometimes backwards.

if you cast it correctly you will never tag a mob,but yeah sometimes it does go retarded,but you can eliminate that by removing auto targetting

barring teleportation/jump skills and without any runes, the engineer can get perma speed boost for 33% from the Speedy Kits (might be wrong name, feel free to make fun of me if I screwed it up) and switching to a kit every few seconds

Many classes can get perma swiftness even with little to none trait dependance.
You have to count the teleports/blinks and dashes and also how often those can happen.I d say thief and ele are on top followed by the rest that were mentioned above..I d say the ele wins at the out of combat movement ..
but im not sure cause i lack good understanding of the thief.Basically the faster i can get on my ele is d/d and the greatsword elite which is amazing for mobility.

Well I'm glad to know that warriors need to take a warhorn and other classes get it for 'free'. And of course thief is the best, if you are going to make an OP class you might as well make it OP at everything.

Guardian can get 33% swiftness too with Retreat.  20s swiftness, 60s cooldown.  I use it all the time when traveling long distances and swap it out quickly when I anticipate battle (and even if you can't, you get an extra Aegis out of it).  I haven't tried adding Symbol of Swiftness to it yet.

Use a focus, not only will you get a 10 second swiftness on a 25 second CD but so can your allies.

It also causes a 5 second cripple to any enemy that touches it & can be detonated to pull enemies into it.

Guardians with GS/Sword/Shouts get this:

20-26s of Swift on 48s CD.
10-14s of Swift on 48s CD.
600 range super fast leap on 15s CD.
600 range teleport on 10s CD.
1200 range teleport on 36s CD.

Basically almost perma swiftness on top fo 2400 range worth of teleports.

Any class that can build for 100% swiftness uptime (most if not all of them, some of them AoE swiftness), that uses speed runes for 40% swiftness.

It is possible for warriors to get 100% switftness without warhorn, though it does require pretty much 30 points in tactics, and mixing 2x runes of speed, 2x runes of water, and 2x rune of the monk, and signet mastery.  +80% to swiftness uptime making swiftness forn signet of rage 54 seconds long on a 48 second cooldown.  Of course this is in sPvP, because I haven't seen any runes of the monk outside of sPvP.

It's very simple to get 100% swiftness uptime with an Elementalist

Glyph of Healing + Inscription (Master Tier Air Trait) + 20% shorter Glyph cooldown, in air attunement. It's not even weapon specific.
20 seconds of swiftness every 20 seconds. If you want to provide a buffer you can get any amount of + boon duration.

Especially since siggy of insp only works in combat now ; ; , best I can figure is stand in chaos storm then start, focus swap, and back and forth like so...but for all the bother I usualy just pony up and pay the 1 s 30 c to move across the zone.
