[Munster Mushroomie]

So I was PvPing tonight, got Heartstrike spammed and died. It happens. Well the game froze up, I Alt + F4'ed out then reopened it. When I opened up the game again it had forgotten my username and password. Usually not a big deal, until I realized I forgot my password (I went through the 9-10 different ones I have with their various variations). No problem I'll just claim I forgot my password. This of course leads to a disabled function on the official forums website.

I have a different password for this forum and I never signed on the official forums. Nor did I create a support account, as I didn't know about it until I began to research how to contact customer support.

So how screwed am I on a scale of 1-10 on getting this password back? Apart from divine intervention or eureka moment I think I'm done with GW2 for a while.

Anet customer service is generally pretty decent about this sort of thing.
I'm sure if you could provide thorough unflinching proof that you own the account, they'd give it to you.

But wait, isn't there a "Send a new password to my e-mail" function of some sort?

I'm searching but it looks like that function is for the Support Forums Account. This apparently is completely separate from your game account. I went ahead and submitted a ticket to ANet.

Same shit happened to me before. I was so sure I could remember my password but I couldn't type it out, brain trolling. Took a bath and nap then suddenly I recalled it.

Contact support, as a proof of being legitimate owner of the account copy-paste the code that you used to activate it.

In the advent of having multiple passwords for every other feature I use on the internet, I began using a Password Memory Card.

Basicaly it's a piece of cardboard with all my passwords (and spare autheticator codes) written on, which I chained to my screen base so it wouldn't get lost. I haven't forgot any password since.

You should try it someday, when you get your password back.

Or just use KeePass like I do. Bonus is it's impossible for keyloggers to ever get your password.

I had the same problem, I changed my password since the most recent post on guildwars2.com told me to... luckily I set my client to remember my password so I can still log into the game, but I can't log into the website as I can't remember it

I sent a support ticket to Arenanet, just waiting for a response atm.

Or just type it in instead of asking to memorize it. Eventually it sticks to mind, and believe me I have weird passwords lol.

Yo dawg just make your password "password" or if you need a stronger one, "password1"  or "drowssap".

No body ever guesses those, they are too complex.

You can always talk to an actual person at the customer service. Don't be frightened, they won't bite you...hard.
