It might be useful for trolling, though.

Ah sorry didn't read that it's tournament builds only.
This only works if you got minions in hotjoin that draw fire :P

I wouldn't even consider playing it in hot join. Signet/Aura build is one of the reasons why we have so many crybabies on these forums.

I think the aura/signet build does work fine.. but filling all your utilities with signets is just plain stupid..

I personally run an aura/signet build and i think it fairs well in hot join or in tourneys, managing to hold a point without the need to go full bunker and with enough crit and damage to actually kill people..

This is so bad. I dont recommend it, because i played it.
On the other hand, Aura share build is one of the strongest builds in the current meta game. Its not about to take full signet setup, because its very easily countered. I spend a lot of theorycrafting and testing (about month) and i can say, that our Tournament setup cant be without our specific Aura share build, because its simple amazing! Very strong party support, with a great harass potential. You have also nice AoE dmg, control and survability (you can hold point even 1v2). Btw, I am talking about D/D spec (maybe ill post it later).
But the princip is that you must combine it with cantrips and trait upgrades to them.

Here's a S/F build that I've been playing around with for holding points.

http://gw2skills.net...4lwLbXOvkdNaY B

I played around with a bunch of different rune sets, but I find that having the +30% boon duration from runes and the +30% from arcane makes it really worthwhile to twist in fire, particularly for getting vigor from phoenix, and thus more dodges with evasive arcana.

I've been thinking about subbing GoEH for SoR, but haven't played around with it yet.  SoR is nice for the sustain heal and being uninterruptable (since HP is so low), but the boon duration + healing power from direct heal + the 16s of regen = 9k total heal from GoEH.

Wow, all that time I've been using my new S/D build I didn't notice the -20% cd is bugged on Ride the Lightning.
I just removed the trait and put in 10% air dmg until this gets fixed.

RTL is so full of bugs it's not even funny.

Some nice info here, thanks! I somewhat independently began to favor a build very similar to [S/D] CC / Double Shield / EA.

And yes, RtL is simultaneously the most amazing and the most annoying skill. :)
I noticed its CD is bugged only out of combat though. If you hit something after initiating with it, it has the correct 12s CD.

Hi Aky, I just wanted to thank you for your builds and the time you spent typing them up.  I've got great use from your S/D aggressive boon and your full support staff build.  Thanks for helping create a more solid community than many of the other classes have - I see a lot of "look it up yourself" or "figure out your own build" on other forums, so it's nice to see people willing to share.  Cheers!

he is using Fire Grandmaster trait to get this.
also earth #5 only triggers the stacks after the cast ends - and oyu have to be quick on your buttons to begin earth #5 before fire #4 ends.

No special traits.

Aky, Thanks a lot for the time taken to try to improve us all!
I've been doing great in sPvP with your [S/D] Aggressive Boon Ele build.

But i have a question for you.
In WvWvW, what kind of gear, runes and sigil do you advice to run?

Right now I'm going full zerker with traits, runes and sigil very similar to this build:

[Staff] Turning the Graveyard into a graveyard!

I use that for the whole WvWvW, but i'm planning on doing another set of gear for when I'm not taking/defending castles and I'm in small groups moving around.

Do you think that's the best to do? or I should just continue using the zerker's gear and just switch to d/s and change utilities?

Which sigil would you use for d/s?

@Hikaru:
I am seeking those "small scale" fights in WvW, thus I'm just playing my normal tPvP S/D build in WvW. You already linked it.

For large scale fights I am too lazy to switch weapons. Idk I don't care much about builds and weapons, there isn't a "one fits all" build. I just like mine. Other people prefer theirs. Small scale WvW isn't much different from normal sPvP (except that most enemies are on hot join level, skill-wise).

What's really annoying, though, is that Valkyrie equipment in WvW has Vitality instead of Toughness...so I actually mixed Berserker & Cleric and some other random stuff (I really don't remember).

You can play glass cannon Staff build in WvW, that's perfectly fine, it's just not my preferred playstyle. Besides S/D does a lot more damage than Staff could ever do. I've watched a full exotic Staff Ele killing mobs. I finished the same mobs in ~25% of the time he needed using S/D, not even fully geared.

Recently I gave up on my ele, and went guardian, after generally getting my PvP skill level up over that time, i decided to go back to my ele. (she was getting lonely :P)

Anyway I tried this build Aky :- [S/D] CC / Double Shield / EA OH SNAP! I have been rocking. I made one change, arcane shield for armor of earth, I just can't get enough of the stability/prot it provides. I felt so powerful yet slippery as well it was good times.

I have since decided to finish leveling her to 80 and since playing the class even longer have found I can use this build eve nbetter than i could before. I rarely die unless you get zerg'd by 5 people, but not many can survive or escape that much CC. I regularly go into 1v2 situations and deal with at least 1 if not both by the time someone comes to help.

I will deffinetly say though, this build performs much better in TPvP (5v5) matches. It works in SPvP (8v8) but theres a much higher chance of getting wtfpwned, so even with the respectable healing from this, it wont save you.

Love it AKY thanks man!

P.S - With yesterdays patch changes, Oh my.. Lets just say i need to get home from work soon!

It's a mix of buff and nerf to the downed state, but overall the downed state changes make ele better for teamfights (easier to res you), worse for 1v1s (you were able to use Vapor Form quite often in a downed state fight, now it has a 20s cd).

I guess it's not too bad.

The duration can still be as long as before, it just bugs out often and is much shorter then.

All your builds which have final shielding are now useless because the arcane shield triggers at 10% instead of 25% making it completely useless. Just another stealth nerf. * arenanet.

Nope they just destroyed the trait without even mentioning it in patch notes or the trait description. I actually don't believe this is a bug because nothing changed regarding those traits or the shield skill itself that could have bugged it out.

I mean I wont pretend to be a computer whizz but this must be a bug caused my some coding error. As much as I see your point a change this big wouldn't be secretly changed. I doubt they wouldn't change the description atleast. Hopefully it's an bug, though the RTL nerf....that was probly intended :(

Final Shielding never really worked perfectly since release. It sometimes simply doesn't trigger.
Maybe you've hit a non-trigger at <25% and it triggered for you at 10% when you tested it (which happened before the patch as well sometimes).

Luckily there are still many good traits for the arcane line, unlike Fire which is completely useless.

It triggered for a long time at around 10% then they fixed it to 25%. Now it's back to the old version. And I tested it multiple times on a dummy, with 14k HP it always triggered at 1.4k.

And the problem is, D/D without a lot of crit actually has no good trait to choose if you want to go 20 into arcane with final shielding being bugged. Vigor on crit is not good if you only have 10% crit and the faster runspeed is still bugged and not really good if it worked either.

proc at 5000hp with 20.000 hp max ... works fine

faster runspeed is still bugged

just for OH dagger ... not a problem in D/D
but the trait is so useless while it doesn't stack with swiftness like others passive speed buffs
