Within the coming month, Halloween will be right around the corner! And with that, comes Mad King Thorn and holiday festivities. Do you think he will make his return in GW2? Do you want to see a Halloween celebration in GW2? Will ArenaNet be able to produce such an event with the game only being a month old? Thoughts? Opinions?

They had a Halloween celebration in GW1 the first year if I remember correctly so I see no reason they wouldn't do it in the new game as well.  It is probably already finished and just waiting to be uploaded.

That's what I was thinking, but then I remembered... the GW1 launch was much smoother and less problematic than GW2… which is why I wonder if we really will see it.

Comparitively, GW1 had a lot less that could go wrong during release than GW2 does. There was another thread on this exact topic but I can't seem to find it so yeah. Someone in there said something about Anet confirming they were indeed working on halloween festivities, as to what they are, no one knows yet.

They already stated in a blog post that they have recorded the voice actor for the Mad King.  Other then that they have been rather tight lipped about it.

They did? I must have missed it. I really hope so... I can just imagine the possibilities of scale and content for a festival in GW2... it could really be amazing!

I wonder how many bad puns will occur in under 30 minutes when the Mad King shows up.

Also, costumes. Now only $9.99! Now you can look like random animals in silly outfits!

If they plan to do a thing like GW where limited edition festival hats or masks are given out, I hope they're smart enough to put a Festival-Hat-Trader-esqe NPC in the game as well and do it soon, and not wait a year or two this time before they wise up to the idea.

Given how cheesy the Mad King has always been, I'm rather curious as to who they'd chosen to voice this role.  Considering some of the talent they've gotten so far, I'd expect it be someone fairly well known. J. K. Simmons and Jon St. John come to mind, but it's likely there's someone even better for it that I'm not thinking about.

I hope they do bring out Halloween. It's right after my birthday and would be a wonderful gift to see Mad King Thorn again. We could even have Dynamic Events in Lion's Arch.

Really, I just can't wait for Winersday.

I hope to see them do most of the big holidays... halloween, thanksgiving, christmas, etc.

Such enthusiasm, isn't halloween still a month away (we don't celebrate it here so I can't remember)? Either way, even though I didn't play GW1, I know that most MMOs have events during irl celebrations and I don't think that GW2 will be an exception to the rule.

Honestly, unless the content has already been created I'd rather they fix the rest of the damn game first. With all the broken DEs/dungeons/etc. there won't be many players left come Halloween if they don't get all that in order first.

The perfect person is Brian Blessed simply because I see the mad king shouting the answers ot his jokes all the time.

As I said before, I don't think Anet will change their precedent of working on events/goodies on their own time :P
