though I don't know how that would work since I thought transmuting soulbound equipment (haven't transmuted anything in a while), and no one answered the question when asked.
If it's true that transmuting equipment no longer soulbinds equipment then I'd say it would work with karma stuff too

I assume they allowed this so that we can retain skins we like when deleting characters they were originally soulbound to anhd so that we can obtain armors from other orders as they promised us we would be able to.

Thanks. I wonder why some items can be traded using the bank even though soulbond and others can't. Does it depend if the item you are putting the skin on was originally not soulbond, so that you can only pass between chars skins but not soulbond on acquire stats?
Edit: tested it on a karma armor piece and apparently soulbound+white not bound items make a "soulbond" one which acts as if it was account bound. I guess the text is bugged. It's also possible the item itself is bugged instead but that seems less likely, since this would explain why we are allowed to purchase items unusable by our profession in the first place.

I've tried with Order of Whisper medium coat (which i accidentally double click earlier). It remains soulbound to my warrior and CANNOT be traded through the bank to another character from the same account. Even tried double transmute.
- Transmuted cultural armor now prevents opposing races from equipping it.

today (9th of oktober 2012) i did what Crantson said
for me it worked
bought a random piece from the armor vendor in LA (which isnt souldbound on purchase) and eqquiped the order of whispers look on it
it did say it was soulbound but i could drag it to my other characters inventory and transmutate it again on hes exotic gear
Added:
ok i can even equip it before the last transmutation
so the soulbound msg is completely falls i gues

I don't think they are going to nerf this since they specifically made it so it would not work on cultural armors in the last patch. Since they only nerfed cultural it kind of implies that they didn't mind the other uses that were being made of this method.

Yeah you don't have to transmute the second time if you used an item with the stats you wanted in the first transmutation.
------
One thing I have noticed since the last patch is that every once in a while you get a piece of armor that just won't accept a transmutation. I have no idea what causes this. I thought maybe it was armor from vendors but then it happened with a couple of pieces from the TP. It's not a case of starter armor not transmuting either as last time it happened the pants and shoes transmuted onto starter armor fine but the coat didn't. In any case, I just bought a second cheap coat from the TP, tried again, and it worked. So if, for some reason, the tranmutation fails, don't give up. Just try it with another cheap armor piece.

Happened to me. Unequipping the item fixed it. If you didn't have either equipped, log and restart.

Am I now screwed, or is this transmuting really possible? And if so, how does it work?
Thanks in advance.

They removed the ability for this to work with the cultural armors so they are obviously aware of this mechanism. So if it is a glitch, it is one they intentionally chose to leave in the game.

I retried this today.
It works on WHITES. I did on boe GREENS in earlier attempts. It's sad to find out after i had level another norn warrior to lvl 80 just for the Vigil Helm.

just make sure the armor you transmute onto does not say "soulbound on use" or it will soul bind instead of account bind
