Hello guys,

Id like to ask if any1 ever tried to sell something via email. (In my case it was exotic Berserker's set.) And I did get scammed. I was doing such a trade because of quite high fee on TP but also because I wanted to sell whole set at one..
I had some kind of trust against of GM in case something goes wrong in the trade so I was not worried too much about that if the guy wont pay even he was saying he gonna pay and he agree the price...

So basically I had an offer for selling whole Berserker's set and I did a trade. The player's behavior was not suspicious at all and he was asking about scam, if Im going to send the armor after the payment. However then the happend what happend and I send the armor while I was still saying, "well, if it goes wrong, Ill report the player and contact GMs". I have all the chat between us screened. But after sending the armor the player started saying stuff like he send money 5 min ago, he sent it to a nick simmiliar to mine etc. so I did a report to GMs and what they told me is they just wont care about trades in the game like that.


I knew, I should not send the stuff, but really? Just like that? They just dont care? Even if there's clearly said on the screens he's gonna pay for it after I send it to him and they just dont care about it? Sorry guys, but this is really what I never really believed gonna happen!

Does any1 got any idea how to solve this, or is there even any way out of this?

You created a problem where there shouldn't be one.
The trading post is there, it's safe, and you decided not to use it.

I've only done small trades over mail ( when the TP was down the first week) but I wouldn't use it again, unless it's with someone I know.

I see, but even though I did trade I should not do, could not GM just check all the screens I provided and solve this kind of mistake I did?

I still dont understand why the * they dont have normal face to face trading in this game, its been in every mmo since the dawn of time. you're pretty much forced to take the goldsink of the stupid TP

They could, sure. But why would they? It's not their problem you chose not to use a service provided for you.

That's the point, they want you to use it because of the gold sink that it is.
And to avoid scamming.

Simply no. It would be too much time and resources consuming monitoring every problems from people going of the normal way to sells/buy stuffs.

Don't take it too hard, but you were a little bit naive to think that someone would help you if anything goes wrong and that the guy would really send you the money once you send the armor. This will serve you as a lesson (Like it did for many, many people that did the same thing as you in this/other game)­. I'm certain that you won't even make the same error

its hard to beleive a GM would reply u like that...they should  at least look into it,maybe the other player is scamming around and the GW dont mind him?

That's what I meant to say all the time, I at least hoped the guy get's banned or something, but nothing happend. I hoped I get my set back as a bonus though. Im not going to copy paste whole conversation with GMs however this kind of reply really suprised me and dissapointed me as well.

Sad to hear this happened to you. Shame some people are so attached to their ingame gold to don't bother to keep their promises. About Gm response: I guess they do it to discourage players from trading by using the mail: if people aren't afraid of getting scammed they'll send freely to whoever leaving it to support to fix stuff if a scam happens and thus giving them a good ammount of work. As noted by others as well, though, they really should have added the cash on delivery feature to mail.

Wow. Why is everyone saying it's his fault for not using the TP? Looks like the Guru community is as blind and helpful as ever. Not everyone likes using the TP for various reasons. It's worse for the seller then it is for the buyer, the 5% listing fee and 10% fee on successful sale are also a turn off. You can't sell directly to a specific person either with the trading post.

OP, in all honestly when you're selling something via mail usually the buyer sends the money first. The item that you are selling can be pinged in chat, while gold cannot.

Even if gold is sent first, how can the buyer be sure to see the item in return? If a face-to-face trade system is not there in the first place, then anyone who's trading by email should know what kind of risk they are stepping in, NOT blaming why GM is not doing anything. :/

In the case of the OP, what I might do in his place while trading, is to send half the set first, then they pay to get the second half. That way when worse comes to worst you only loss half not full. Then again that's a bit of a hindsight. ><
