Format now looks cheap and cheesy. The colorformating is outta the window and looks like candy that you forgot to take out of your pants and just came out of the tumbler.

Remember that thread not to long ago, about a possible new design for the board, this might be a good moment to start thinking about one, and add the ads in a somewhat 'thought-out' way, design wise, as currently they feel very much slapped on :(

A re-design is on the cards, but not in the immediate future.

We'll be switching it to Curse Premium in the future which is why that program went away. However, if you are currently a part of the Select program you won't be removed until the switch happens.

I think that means you will be removed from the current program, and replaced by the new program.

No, you won't lose your avatar. The subscription bonuses for the forum will be pretty much identical to what it is now.

and I absolutely dislike this way how it seems that the hand of curse seems to totally ruin this forum that way!!! Just my 2 cents about this topic and those dumb advertisements looking like being just the begin of the end of this forum's doom.

No, you will not lose your avatar. Those features are for Curse.com, not the fansites. We, the admins of this site, decide what features we want to showcase with the subscription forums and I'll say it again: the features are going to be similar to what they already were.

We'd be happy to take the advertisements down if you want to pay to run the site. Guildwars2guru is not free....and since JR forgot to water the damn money tree we have to find other methods of supporting the site financially.

@Al: I've nothing against stuff that finances the servers, as long it doesn't significantly reduce the options of simple registered users compared to premium users like my exaggerated examples and as long it doesn't make the forum look like some cheap 0815-stuff from such a cheap forum provider which exist like sand at the ocean.

When it must be advertisements, then use stuff, that just pops up short and can be clicked away, but not such dumb permanental stuff.

Everyone, ads are a fact of life on the internet.  This isn't a new thing. This has nothing to do with Curse.  You can't honestly believe that Guru was never going to have ads. We have to have some income. Running a website is NOT free.  We can't, just out of the goodness of our heart dig deep into our pockets to spend thousands of dollars a month just to give you all a platform to voice your opinion.  

Ads are on websites. If you aren't going to contribute to a website that a lot of you frequent every day than you deal with the ads. In fact you should encourage ads because without them websites like these wouldn't exist. We love what we do but there is always the cost factor that we have to keep in mind.

I think the ads are fine; it pays for GW2G as said and also as soon as you scroll down you won't see the ads, but rather the posts/forum list. The content is what matters, I think! :) They're only a momentary distraction, like GW1G. That's my opinion, at least! ^^

This. I don't mind the ads, but I'm not liking the placement. Right now I'm looking at a bright red Netflix ad that's clashing with the theme and very distracting. Also ads that are actually relevant to the content on the site would be nice.
