Good Day everyone,

Today, at around 16:25 GMT +1 I crafted my very own legendary Greatsword Sunrise!






Conclusions:

1. Spatial Surge does NOT change.
2. Mirror Blade DOES change. You throw your Greatsword of Choice instead of the purple one. (Please refer to either the videos or the screenshots a few posts below)
3. Mind Stab does NOT change.
4. Phantasmal Berzerker does NOT change.
5. Illusionary Wave does NOT change.

This happens when you transmute your Legendary:



However:
The Illusions you summon carry your Greatsword of Choice as well. They leave the same Footprints as you do, they have the same Aura as you do. (They are you, after all )



EDIT as of 27.10.

Small videos showing a few fights versus Mobs. One is in Orr (Cursed Shore), the other one is in Sparkfly Fen, as the lighting there seems to be much nicer to Sunrise.

For those wondering. The Mesmer Skill "Mirror Blade" is altered. You throw Sunrise at your enemy instead of the normal purple Illusion. Haven't seen any other Skill-alterations.

I'm currently on the Server Riverside [DE] .. Took me about a month to complete.
My special thanks goes to Anika Kerensky as he borrowed me the 10g I needed to buy Dawn in the HP.

Does spatial charge change?

The only skill that changes is "Mirror Blade", the other skills are normal.
I think some screens will provide a better answer.

EDIT²: Here's a screenshot of the new "Mirror Blade". You can also see the Phantasmal Berserkers Weapon in there. It's still the old one. The Illusions however carry Sunrise.

Uhm, I farmed events in northern Cursed Shore.. Sold just about everything you get there.

Around 200 Ectos I salvaged by myself, the others I bought.

edit: I guess i should get more into detail with this. The karma I mostly farmed in northern Cursed Shore (Plinx, Arena, Rakkan, Broodmother, and Penitent- and Shelters Waypoints). The fine T6 materials and around 300 ectos i bought in the TP with the money I made from selling the loot of the events. I also bought exotic items in the Trading Post, salvaged them with a Black Lion Kit and sold the Sigil or Rune for the same or even a bit more then I bought the Item for. Those I'd like to call "free ectos". I salvaged around 100 with this method.

I wonder why you think that, sir. Because the Greatsword isn't the top Weapon for a Mesmer?

I am very happy with it, even tho it would probably be more "shiny" on a Warrior or Guardian, maybe even a Ranger.

no, because mesmer has no attack animations whatsoever.
i am playing mesmer myself and i'll never even consider getting it, only due to this reason. hell, even this would look cooler on mesmer http://i.imgur.com/guE3q.jpg
i'd level a guardian or warrior for twilight/sunrise instead.

on a mesmer i dont really know if there is any worthy legendary. bitfrost is a major disappointment, GS'es arent really shiny on him. focus is bad looking by default unless you happen to be sylvari.
yet to see sword/pistol so that might be it. but i am pretty sceptical.

overall almost all legendaries are major disappointment for me. only twilight seems to be worthy the effort, and i'll level a guardian for it.

My malign glyphic looks kinda cool with our surge attack, it pivots between my hands on it's Z axis. However with mesmer GS your never going to get a lot of epeen dragging across the face of the foe, they wont see you up top a keep no matter how glittery the sword is.

I totally don't understand why people would have such "OPINIONS" about even considering if such legendary is "proper" for some people/class or not. I could understand if it's exotics. But legendary is certainly nothing but a journey through almost every aspect of the game. It means hard work & dedications and true enthusiastic about this game.

So I would only want to say thank you so much for the post and it look really really great!

I'm pretty thrilled and encouraged by the recent post for the legendaries and even to me it would took much longer time.

Yup, definitely putting this on my Guardian Asura, I don't want it on my Mesmer, I don't think the mesmer has good enough animations for it, while the Guardian Asura has crazy moves flying around. That was the real thing that was holding my back too. Congrats though! It's really amazing

Thank you all for your criticism and feedback.

I personally hoped, as many others I see, that using either Sunrise or Twilight would change some of the skills, especially "Spatial Surge", seeing as it does not really have an animation on his own. I'm happy though that it at least does change one skill, that's better than none. Maybe, even though I doubt it, ANet will change some other Skills as well. E.g. turn the color of the "Spatial Surge" into the color that Sunrise / Twilight has at the moment, in compensation to the "lack" of swing-animation.

Maybe I encouraged, or discouraged some Mesmers out there thinking about getting either sword. So, if, as some of you think, this is a "waste of a legendary", maybe consider it as a "sacrifice" for science.
That was one of the reasons (aside from answering the question I was expecting) I put up the screenshots showing the skills.

Overall, I'm a bit disappointed but very happy nonetheless.

Quite sure legendaries will become account bound and you'll be able to use them with other classes.

First congraz on the GS,  this may be a noob question ( in fact, Im sure it is) but what are Plinx, Area, Rakkan, Im looking at wiki I dont see those names. I know Pentient & Shelter and that other WP down the road from Shelter. Also know about the maggot event all the way down at the bottom of the map. but what events are Plinx , Arena & Rakkan.

Spatial Surge causes the sword to spin around its axis.  Does this show the trail effect?

Also, Sunrise seems to give you a blue aura.  How exactly does that work?  Is it just a flat oval that always faces the camera, or does it have any depth to it?

EDIT: Oh wow holy crap I just noticed something.  Your hair is the same color as mine, your outfit is the same color scheme as mine, and I'm very close to getting sunrise myself.  I wonder if that's a coincidence or if white/red is just a really nice color combination.

They're disappointed because the Mesmer doesn't take advantage of the sword's after-trail effect since their basic attack doesn't move the sword.  They need to just give Spatial Surge a palatte swap when using Sunrise/Twilight

Right.. exactly. Not only Spatial Surge, but all of them.

Its like the dreamer shoots out rainbow arrows; why can't sunrise/twilight shoot out white/black magic effect?

No, it doesn't show the trail effect when the sword spins around. Only when you move the sword into position.

The whiteish/blue aura appears when you draw the sword. It's only active as long as you have the sword in your hand.

And to your last question, I don't know if I can really answer that.

I've made some screens showing the aura from different angles, maybe that can/will help you.

I think it's a very good color combination. However, since my guild changed it's guild colors into white / green I'm currently running around in Celestial / Emerald. I also think that this hair color suited this hair style best.

Oh my, I'm sorry, didn't see that post!

Plinx means Priory Explorer Plinx .. his Eventchain (5 Events in Total) starts in the Northern Cursed Shore .. right in the west of the farthest Skillpoint to the North in the Fields of Gold. First you have to speak to him, he's standing on some Rocks. Then a defense event will start, then an escort event, then another defense event, then another escort and finally a champion will spawn in the north of the Caer Shadowfain Waypoint.

The Arena means the Arena of Balthasar, also located in the Fields of Gold .. it can be found a bit south of the Skillpoint-Challenge I described above. There 2 Events take place, first you defeat 3 Risen Contesters and afterwards the Champion of the Arena. This event often appears right before Plinx, or when defending/escorting him for the first time. (It depends on the Server, however.)

Rakkan is a little Skritt that can, or can not be found in the R&D Camp. He's standing next to the female Asura (EDIT: Her name is Scholar Merla). If he isn't standing there, then he's usually at the shore, west of R&D Camp. There you'll have to help him gather fish glands. When that's done, he'll run back to R&D and there an escort Event will start. If this is successful, another Event will take place where you have to free him from a Risen Broodmother.

congratulations, its the legendary that i want to get as well, and for my mesmer too, thought I have to say that its very disappointing to see how little animations does it even have (for mesmers) I wonder if there is a way to beg devs to open there eyes and see the difference between classes that get the animation from just swinging weapon and the one and only mesmer who should have had something specially added because after all he never really swings his sword anyway.

I wondered about this as well. I wanted to make a post on the offical forum, however it seems I can only write in the german section of the forum. I can neither post on the english forums nor can I register there, it's always giving me some strange error.

thanks for the explaination, I went to Cursed Shore on my Warrior, and I saw Rakkan, and the Golem quest, I must have miss the starting quest. Im just starting learning about the Event Chain in this area. tring to do enough dmg so I get a chance at some loot, its funny and sad atm, when I reach the Mob, there have dead already, way too many Zerg Aoe'ers  here, gonna have to change 1 weapon set to a Bow or Rilfe.

I wrote about it on Mesmer section in official forums, hopefully some devs will notice.  And I'm sure that for now its not much of an issue, but when more and more people will start getting legendaries there will be mesmer outcry.

I really hope Anet will look into the skill animations and make them to change appearance with legendary. Personally I think they miss out GS #1, 3, 4 and 5. (A little biased here because I have a Mesmer main too )

Congratulations! I hope you don't get disheartened with the "waste of a legendary" bits. As someone pointed out, it really is a matter of personal choice, and whether something is a waste or not depends on them. OP likes the mesmer and went through all the trouble of creating a legendary weapon for himself. Let's not disrespect the effort, and indeed it does take a lot, just because it's not as showy as when wielded by other classes. Have fun with your GS!
