You know, It'd be nice to instead of raising money for 'non-profit' organizations to coincide with the same ideology of the problem of cancer by 'throwing money at it' we educate people on preventative measures and cures that have already come to pass and never accepted by the mainstream medical establishment or cancer industry (yes it's an industry). A far better option than simply raise awareness that the problem exists and keeping people ignorant of the truths to date.
I'll start:
One of the more notable cures for cancer is a regimen created by Dr. Max Gerson with his 'Gerson Therapy', presented to congressional testimony for the Pepper-Neely Hearings July 1-3, 1946. It's a nutritional regimen that focuses on detoxification of the body, flooding the body with biovailable nutrients en masse, and perking up the body's metabolism with thyroid extracts. Dr. Gerson saw cancer as nothing more than it truly is: a disease of lifestyle and diet.
The analogy of cancer is simple to make by picturing yourself not taking out the trash, leaving it there to fester, rot, and decay. You can have someone take out your trash for you (surgery) and not clean up the putrid mess left, but the habit of not taking out the trash remains, so the cancer returns. By detoxification, the 'trash' in your body is removed, in which preventative measures such as eating real (yes organic) foods to give your body the nutrients it needs, the body can properly heal as long as the liver isn't damaged beyond repair.
The immune system becomes compromised as individuals eat entirely processed dead food products lacking essential enzymes, micro/macronutrients, denatured essential nutrients, and laden with synthetic pertroleum derrived chemicals and poisons (i.e. aspartame, arsnic, etc..), much like balling up a sheet of paper until it no longer holds any form.
There is far more knowledge to be learned, however i must keep this relatively brief. I believe the gamer community could benefit the greater public more by promoting preventative measures and cures suppressed by the western medical establishment than participating in pinkwashing campaigns. If even half the gamers put forth half the effort they do for farming for gold/mats/gear/etc... into finding the truths of cancer, the knowledge gained would be insurmountable by any propaganda.
