I've been reading about how people were able to buy Obsidian Shards with karma -- is there a possibility for doing the same with Globs of Ectoplasm?  If so, where?

That would be a dream come true.  As far as I know this is not the case but I hope I am mistaken.  They are currently going for 18-19s on the TP also, which is another indication that it is unlikely to be bought via karma.  The value would be deflated.

Indeed, it is not possible to buy them with Karma. Only way is to salvage rare or exotic lvl 70(?)+

Was under the impression that any rare or exotic could carry them, or at least any exotic. Cany anyone link something to refute this or prove it?

It's 70+ exotic or rare. It was proven before, and I've salvaged hundred of them with black lion kits.

strange, i've never gotten any from 68. maybe i'm unlucky with that, or haven't salvaged enough 68-69

I'd rather use the mystic forge kits.

Just salvage rares and exotics and you will get em.

lion's is 50% chance. mystic is 25%. Much rather use black lion

Oh I remember them showing 15% But the lion kits are more expensive to get.

have about 10 sitting in my bank with 25 charges on them all... from just opening the chests as and when I get a key lol..

That was an error in the text, that error was corrected, they were obviusly meant to be superior to Master's that is currently something like 6 times cheaper.

I salvaged my first ecto from a 68 rare, so there's one more speck of anecdotal evidence for you all

I only got 3 stacks from the chests I opened Used most of them to get the good runes out of gear
