Been playing my Ele since the headstart, and just did the A Light in the Darkness mission... and I have to say, yes i know we're suppose to be the glass "cannon" profession but i fail to see it, we are more like a tinfoil slingshot. In normal PvE I use the go fire attunement on scepter/dagger, plant ring of fire, spam blasts and fire GoEH then lightning hammer, but in that mission i died... 15 times on the Eye of Zhaitan's stupid beam attack before i just gave up the fire might stacking and just summoned 2 earth eles and hide behind a pillar using my staff fire skills.... and honestly thats not how this profession should be played in my opinion we should be putting out at least half the damage thieves are getting without trying (the thieves aren't trying) but no we are getting half the damage they put out after using 8-10 skills.... So if anyone has any suggestions on a good build it would be greatly appreciated.

Just noticed i posted this in the pvp forum not the pve forum... if a mod could move this over that would be great. Thank you in advance.

Not trying to be mean but why do you ask about PvE builds in the PvP section?

http://www.guildwars...4-elementalist/

Else try to be more specific what kind of build you need.

Edit: Noticed your edit, nevermind then.

I thought it was one of the easier fights tbh.  I pretty easily soloed it first time with my signet build.  SoF and Bleeds is all it takes vs any single target and you should probably switch to this kind of build for anything that has a lot of hp.

edit, yes the earth elemental helps a lot.

PVE: Lightning hammer build > all.
PVP: every other class > all the ele builds.

Please, stop generalizing things. S/D Ele is one of the most needed classes in high level Tournament PvP on map #1 and #2, even on map #3 our team found it to be the best for killing the treb. It's bad in low level PvP without coordination, though (a.k.a. bad teams and hot join games). Atm there isn't a single class which can replace the Ele when paired with synergizing classes.

I know you're not a bad player but you shouldn't say such things, especially because it's 100% wrong.

Staff deals as much if not more damage than the hammer while having better aoe, cc, condition removal and healing options.

oh c'mon - seriously? Don't just make things up. Ele Staff is one of my favorite weapons/skillsets in the game, but don't just make things up.

- I want that purple stuff.

Dude, I was standing 2 hours in frostgorge timing my ttk on various level 80 mobs and the mobs dropped dead just as fast with lava font --> meteor shower --> lava font --> fireball spam as they did with the lightning hammer auto attack. Lava font --> ice spike --> eruption --> lightning flash --> chain lightning spam worked just as well. And when I say "dropped dead just as fast" I mean just that, the mob was dead at the same time with both weapons to the very second.

I assume this is highly dependent on equipment though since I run around with full berserker exotic gear and a bloodlust sigil.

When you start off saying your gunna delete the character, you come off as somewhat childish. So to that I say, dude you'er doing it wrong! Don't wholesale blame the class, or the build(s) your rolling with.

I cant offer any Ele advice, I play a Mesmer and Guardian.

Personally I use LOS (line of sign to avoid damage) often, and will say using LOS is a perfectly OK tactic in both PvP and PvE. Smart players do it!

Have to agree with aky here.
I play S/D mainly and i feel comfortable dealing with almost any profession/build. yes even the PW thieves. since the PW nerf i feel really comfortable now. since when im just 0.2 sec to late now to press my mistform when they are hasting there pw i dont drop half my hp. I only lose to those insanely skilled thieves but i would probally lose to any profession they play regardless. The meta for me at high lvl play is mind games. who uses there cds first and when and where. tricking people to use there cds.( some trick you might not know: you can fake cast shockwave, good people will try to dodge, while you just have it on 3sec cd.)

Err.. are you saying you're expecting the class to do well when you park in fire attunement and spam?

If yes, go ahead and reroll. And for the love of god, I hope anet doesn't dumb the class down based on these posts.

You don't have to dodge shockwave/gust, unless you're in melee range with the ele it will miss if you simply change direction or start moving.
