I know I was dissapointed with the guardian hammer due to the long stalled 3rd chain strike, and it would be a shame if I didn't like the warrior's hammer too.

Warrior hammer is far better: great adren skill, great skills in general, fast hits.

Mace - single target control - Mace 5 is incredible for knockdowns, coupled with mace 3 and the stun and you can take a difficult mob and limit him to essentially one hit every 6-8 seconds. An amazing weapon if you are playing beside a glass cannon player. DW Mace feels and looks slow. Mace 4 is kind of meh with an odd swing, and mace auto attack is brutally slow. Mace 2 is decent.
All in all Mace is siginificantly better defensively while Hammer is much better for group damage control with it's slows.
I love DW maces on bosses as you can completely remove their Defiant stacks faster than anyone setting them up for either a knockdown or a 3 second Daze.

Anyway, Hammer grants you a lot of AoE control, and has a devastating autochain, and dat stun... Just a great weapon. Maces are good maybe the best main-hand weapon of the warrior, you can combine it with all others to have really nice changes in your gamplay, shield for tank, axe for AoE-DPS, mace for more control, sword for a balanced solution... Is a great main-hand weapon.

The hammer can be a lot of fun, however like the mace it's not meant for fighting groups, with the notable exception of it's adrenal skill that can be a beast when used right. It's a reliable pick for dungeons.
Single target weapons: Mace, Hammer, sword, shield, rifle
Mob weapons: Greatsword, Longbow, axe, warhorn (more of a support thing)

Hammer is the BEST for that. The adrenaline skill of hammer is maybe the best AoE control skill of the warrior... By miles.

The tradeoff for a sub-par burst attack is that not using it often provides great synergy with Berserker's Power and Adrenal Health.

But hammer on a warrior... My favorite. You get some good AOE and lots of crowd control.

Overall I really like the feel of the hammer, and its my preferred weapon. Its slowness lends a feeling of heaviness, and with a bit of Might and Fury I think the numbers back that up. Well-executed, it gives you a great feeling of being "in control" of the situation, and that the squishier group members are freer to do what they want because of you.
