Would anyone who's played the BWEs mind telling me what the Greatsword was like then? I'm curious why it actually needed a heavy nerf, since by looking at the numbers right now even doubling the damage it does would not be at all overpowered.
I've been using one all the way from level 1-55 on my Ranger so far, and the pitiful damage is really grating on me. Half the time I feel like it would barely matter if I just stood back and let my pet kill the enemy.
I know that it's intended more as a defensive weapon for the Ranger, but the damage is too pitiful to ever pull aggro from the pet, and the cooldown on the block and interrupt are also very excessive (higher than comparable skills on other professions). And even with that in mind, the replacement of potential offensive abilities with defensive ones already trades offense for defense, making any further reduction of damage on the existing attacks unnecessary.

The damage was pretty high and needed an adjustment but it was adjusted down way too much to make it irrelevant.

Yes it is a defensive weapon, but I always though the built in defenses were more a counter balance to the rangers low armor and hit points.  It made staying in melee against a warrior or thief actually doable.

The problem was when a ranger popped QZ, RoA and Beastmaster Signets the ranger would become a killing machine for about 6 seconds and that particular build was condisered OP by a lot of people (and there were some videos that showed the kind of numbers it could do against stationary objects).

Now was it more dangerous than say, fury-bullrush-hundred blade warriors?  No, not even close.  It did not deserve the kind of downscaling to it's damage that it saw before release.

In Beta a GS Ranger ran into sPvP and sliced through every one is seconds...It was that OP, charge in and the guy was dead!
