Hi,

As the title states. I was just wondering if arcane shield procs elemental surge in any way. Either upon striking arcane shield or when it explodes after 3 hits.

Not AFAIK. Arcane Power doesn't either. Which makes elemental surge an even worse grandmaster trait than it already is :/

Also, as an interesting fact, Arcane Wave procs Surge on your target at any distance.

Elementalist:

• Fixed arcane wave from activating elemental surge beyond the intended range
  
• Nerfed something you care about
  
• Didn't fix any bugs that hinder the class

Well I dunno, it worked on golems an hour ago.

EDIT: Oh a future patch. Yeah that's probably how it's gonna be.

Does anyone know if this is true? I tried to test it on the NPC's in HoM and it didn't seem to work. I could have been out of range or something dumb like that though.

Here's a short unedited video of both procs:

Watch for the chill as the Shield explodes and when I trigger Wave way out of its range.

Maybe offtopic, but it's worth mentioning that Arcane Shield will remove itself after 3 hits underwater, but does not explode

Update: Will not proc E-Surge underwater
Update2: If you activate it underwater and go onto land it will explode and proc E-Surge

Arcane power DOES proc elemental surge, though =x.

Is elemental surge that good to take the trait for shield?  I have lots of burning already, seems a bit weaksauce.

I get it I get it. When I tried it I simply tried when using the skills, not when the shield gets destroyed or one of the spells from power hits

You take it mostly for the blind imo.

I stay in lightning as my "main" attunement to arc out from and can basically stack blind 3 or even four times in a row (lblinding flash -> 2X arcane skills --> blinding flash), which in itself is a nice bit of defence, especially against thiefs and such you can basically avoid a large portion of their initital burst.

You can also use it to cripple or chill escaping enemies etc.

I'm in the process of testing out how it works with arcane shield, it does work on the last blow. Not sure if it works with final shielding as well.

Doesn't work with final shielding or the 75% health arcane power talent.
