did anyone ever think about throwing 4 legendary's in the mystic forge .. would Arena net putted that in .. or would you get an messed up exotic i know i know, one person getting 4 legendary's (insane) but could it be that if you threw in 4 staffs legendary lvl that an even more epic skinned legendary would come out. (btw in an arena net article they said,: we didnt take down chances of getting the base exotic weapons. and throwing in 4 exotics is still an recipe. so my question is did anyone else know an recipe that gives base exotic weapon for the legendary. or wut ...

I see your question, and raise this video-

And as someone said, the daggers are a legendary looking one handed legendary. Especially now that they made the lava effect on the handle a bit more visible. Who doesn't want a permanent torch dagger?

I'm personally going for The Minstrel, but after seeing all other 1 handers (especially offhands) that don't have much in terms of particle effects/unique effects, I'm very concerned it won't be even comparable to the three greatswords.

I would like to save you right now: The Minstrel is the worst Legendary you can ever get right now. It has no "combat/flashy/howeveryouwannacallit" effect, no glowing effect, its just an harp with little(and I mean little, to a point where theyre not even noticeable) notes floating around it. Dont even bother, seriously. Unless you like harps that cost a *ton of gold ofc.

I made a thread awhile ago http://www.guildwars...s/#entry2098885 - which is similar to what you want, except my problem is the overall lack of what i think are legendary effects. I will say that MOST legendaries have pretty unique skins, just most don't stand out enough.

i think legendaries are pretty lame on every level.

for the record, i'm making Bitfrost and all i need are about 100 ecto globs and the precursor. i'm mainly doing it for something to work towards, not because i think it's worth it.

here are my main problems with legendaries:

1. the process of getting them is SUPER LAME. grinding a bunch of mats is not fun, and when you're going for the "ultimate" weapons in the game, you should have to go above and beyond. it should be memorable, challenging, unique, fun, even more challenging, and sometimes tedious. but the process for getting them now is just an effing joke. i want a long, memorable, challening, and meaningful experience when getting my legendary.

2. they have no lore behind them (as far as i know. correct me if i'm wrong). seriously, there is nothing legendary at all about the weapon, no lore, no epic quests, no nothing. now, you can play semantics and break down the word legendary and say just because they're called that doesn't mean they have to have lore or be a...well...LEGENDARY weapon. but yes, i think they do. when you tell someone you had a legendary weapon, or say a game has legendaries, you don't think of a weapon that you grind hundreds of hours for just to get a slightly better skin (and that's literally the only bonus). you think of a weapon from the tales of old, that great heroes of the past wielded, or something lost in time that only the best/bravest can find. i hate to have to go to WoW comparisons, but they did legendaries FAR better than this game. at least they actually had legendary qualities and lore behind them.

3. the fact that legendaries don't solely have the best stats is pretty lame. let me add that i hate gear treadmills and content gating, and i don't have a single piece of stupid ascended gear. i don't like the fractals and i'm happy having full exotics and not trying to get the new gear. but if you're going to have people spend hundreds or even thousands of hours getting a legendary, i think you should give the weapons a slight increase over the next highest tier of weapons. not anything unfair or game breaking, but the same type of jump from rare to exotic could happen from exotic to legendary (or ascended to legendary). i mean, a weapon isn't too "legendary" if it's just a skin upgrade.

4. the skins they have now don't even look that great. sure, you can chalk that up to personal opinion, but from what i've seen, most people say that most of the skins are pretty meh. i personally only think both greatswords, Bolt, Bitfrost, and the shield stand out, and the rest aren't even worth it. also, the whole "leaving a trail of footprints" thing is getting old. if you've seen it on one, then there's really nothing new to see for the others that do it.

5. precursors. not really much that needs to be said here, everybody knows the precursor situation is a flat out joke. maybe the scavenger hunt thing will fix it, who knows.

^ my opinion
a legendary (skin) consists of : moneymoneymoneymoneymoneymoney (...) , doin eb pj with 3 charas daily, doin your dailys.... nothing with skill
they should have added a real legendary quest or something where u get e.g. the precurser at the end, like a own dungeon.

Shhh, some still believe to be worthy player wielding a special weapon and be an elite. Don't explain them 95% of them are junk with pathetic design, no lore, no meaning, and just a result of a large amount of hours ingame farming like a chinese bot, they can feel themself offended. Don't joke, don't even try to investigate where they got the precursors, it was a legendary journey

/sarcasm off

That would be a great addition, even if it was a simple description on the weapon. Even cooler would be some kind of mini dungeon/area/cutscene or something you have to complete to get a component of the legendary.

This isn't so bothersome. Yeah, they are not above and beyond what is there, but they will always be the highest stat weapon.
What is really bothersome though, is the fact you cannot choose the stats you want, and if you transmute to get the stats you want it breaks your legendary.

Totally agreed. Obviously some is personal opinion, but they were clearly just lazy when it came to legendaries like the minstrel and kudzu. Not to mention the legendaries that are just plain stupid (looking at you quip). There are so many ways to make a bad ass pistol..... so lets make a bubble gun that shoots flowers.....

Legendaries tier list

A-tier (This grind was totally worth it)
Twilight/Dawn/Eternity (Greatsword)
Juggernaut (Hammer)
Bolt (Sword)
Flameseeker Prophecies (Shield)
The Bifrost (Staff)

B-tier (This grind was okay but I wouldn't do it again)
Incinerator (Dagger)
Frostfang (Axe)
The Predator (Rifle)
The Moot (Mace)

C-tier (why the hell did I just grind for a month for this POS)
Rodgort (Torch)
All underwater legendaries (Trident, Harpoon Gun, Spear)
Meteorlogicus (Scepter)
The Minstrel (Focus)
Howler (Warhorn)

Z-tier (aka. the what the hell did I just craft tier)
The Dreamer
Kudzu

Quip tier (what the hell did I just craft)
Quip

Some people like Meteorlogicus but it draws special ire from me, thanks to being the most impossibly tacky weapon ever. It looks as if whoever was wielding it raided their grandmother's attic for the most unnecessarily gaudy atlas they could find and sprayed cotton at it, then made it move via magic.

Am I the only person who's primary reason to ever get a legendary is for the account medal and achievement? :D

Sure I'd quite like Flameseeker Prophecies and/or Incinerator (after all everyone has Twilight now :P) but without the above, I wouldn't bother :P

Question, feedback or issue? Pm me!

agreed entirely with your post except this one small change.  Quip and The Dreamer have to be by far the worst weapon skins in any game I have ever played that has "legendary" or similar tiered weapons.

The only reason I'd ever get Quip would be if I 1) had too much gold to spare and 2) wanted to annoy people in LA/WvW :D

Every time I go to a convenience store and come out with my purchase only to find a Ferrari parked next to my banger, I have to chuckle at the twit who spent a small fortune just to drive to the corner with a big red 'look at me' sign over his head.

I would be pissed if they released another set of Legendaries with much better skins and didn't rework these ones... Really pissed off!

I think all the Legendaries have great base themes and models, but most lack in the Legendary part of the "Legendary Weapon." I'm talking, of course, about the particle effects. If they gave every single Legendary as many unique particle effects as the twin Greatswords, I would be completely satisfied. And PLEASE do not make the Quip or Dreamer more "badass" they're hilariously unique the way they are, just add more effects to make them stand out.

Looking forward to new legendaries, partially hinted by devs as incoming sooner or later

Would love to see the Dreamer leave marks on the ground with similar colour as the whole bow. By that I mean the butterfly wings.

I as well had thought the game would have a legendary quest(s) in order to acquire a rare and magnificent weapon. Thoroughly disappointed that there was no thought put into them other than a checklist node and TP grind. I had imagined prior to the beta weekends that acquiring a legendary would be seeking, or even coming across, clues in the open world. Even somewhere in the personal story hints about ancient weapons would emerge...or at least something that would tie the weapon to the land, or gods wtv. I envisioned going into an instance and fighting of other-worldly beasts, jumping through a tough puzzle to gather a component or solving a riddle.
Almost every aspect of a legendary (and most of the game in general) eschews my willing suspension of disbeleif only to remind me this is a compartmentalized world deliberately designed to funnel me into the gem store.

Rodgort is easily in your B-Tier.  It has a very obvious particle effect (better then Incinerator), sets you arm on fire, has fiery footsteps (slightly less noticeable the Incinerator), and changes some of your torch attack animations.  Easily better than the Moot and IMO better than Frostfang.

They should make weapons more noticable on a tiny asura too. Just because we are small does not mean the effects should be that much smaller.
