This could be the cover of a comic book, and I would buy it.

anyway, working on another one. this is a fan art for my favorite race... The Norn

I have been looking at GW2 artworks thoroughly and trying to replicate the same painting style of art, since I'm more used to comic-y, cartoon-y style.

I think the 2nd one is going to be my favorite ^^

Think the first one is a bit too hectic, specially with the type of colouring you used (the very white highlights/outlines). Think thats especially an overkill on the asura. Still it looks very nice. Just think a darker theme would have done better.

The collar of the front-left dude is pretty awesome btw ^^

Can't wait to see the next one have colours!

These are gorgeous! The details are wonderful. I love that last one - it's a great angle. And what an god-awesome tattoo. 8D I also love Norns, as well as cats (especially big spotted ones). Can't wait to see it coloured!

took a while painting this one... I had to draw the background with a mouse, sort of frustrating but managed to do it, somewhat..
the mountains are a pain to do with a mouse, and it's the first time i've painted 'background'. I'm quite happy with how it looks, but still lots of room for improvement..

Sweet :3 Like the expression on the female norn her face. And that background is really good if you did it with a mouse! The armor of them both and his tattoo's look really good. Great job

I used to participate in game tournaments when I was younger, never had my wrist aching, even when practicing for a tournament for days... those mountains, they made my wrist ache hahaha.

Still, your work is amazing. :P There's always room for improvement with any artist, but after seeing your first finished piece, I was blown away.

I really love the norn piece as well, though. It has a very 'painted' look about it... and the snow leopard is adorable. <3

I know this might seem like a detail to a lot of people, but, I have to give you a lot of props for the 'tilt' in the image. It really adds to the "They're on a mountain!" feel of the image.

You have a really unique style, I love it.

hey thanks guys. My excitement for GW2 is overwhelming, I just need some outlet lol...

@actionjack
hey thanks, I appreciate you think it looks 'pro'.. I'm a computer science major and my actual work is totally unrelated to art, however, I enjoy drawing very much as a hobby.

I read your last post in your painting challenge thread. You should never feel discouraged. Just give it a go, no matter how it end up looking, you will always learn something :)

EDIT:
just to add, here's what I'm working on atm

still refining the details...

You are extremely skilled at drawing, the structure and composition of the sketches is very close to perfect (the only thing that stood out was the head of the male norn in the second one. It looked somehow flat, probably because of the headband). I actually very much prefer the pencil sketches since the finished versions are not quite on the same level - they taste of photoshop. More specifically, they appear colored instead of painted. I would suggest experimenting with different kinds of brushes and trying to imitate specific painting styles like watercolor or oil on canvas. Also, consider studying ANet official concept art pieces, especially Kekai Kotaki's work - he's a real wizard with digital brushes. As a rule of thumb avoid the standard fuzzy brushes and try, e.g., hard-edged brushes at low opaque levels.

But most importantly, drawing and painting may require a completely different disposition for best results: a deliberate style with a meticulous attention to detail may work wonders with drawings but is actually a hindrance when painting, so it may take some effort to "let oneself loose" and avoid sweating over the small stuff. I sincerely hope that this doesn't sound like discouragement since you're showing great potential. Cheers!

I totally agree, and thanks for the tip.. I do actually use the hard brush (only) with very low opacity.. I haven't experimented on brush types yet but I will, soon. I've been looking very closely at Guild Wars concept arts as well, trying to see how they make the stuff appear as they are.

I've been drawing since I was a kid, but photoshop is kind of new to me. I started a little over two years ago painting in photoshop (but not consistently). I'm kinda used to the precision that a pencil on paper offer, and painting with the mouse is very frustrating at times (perfect curves are hell to make). :P

Again, thank you very much for the tips. I completely understand the 'losing oneself' part in painting.. Something I'm not used to, but slowly starting to learn.
