Exactly. It's one profession changing the focus of the match and there's no counter but to do it yourself. If this mechanic is left unchecked ANet may as well change the announcement at the beginning of each match to "The best Mesmer wins!"

Yeah but it's kinda their mechanics (no I don't play mes) just like the Thieves can perma-stealth and keep the point uncapped. Only very-wellorganized team would use the portal system (plus the system is more of a retreat then moving forward)

Except that capping in Stealth doesn't work in sPvP.

A new thing I've faced are trapbursts with either marks or ranger's trap. It's pretty easy to counter though, just pop a distortion before you go through.

100  blade in the portal is the best counter Xd, i love do that :P.

If Necros fears didn't suck you could leave a mark and fear them off the cliff. If it lasted 3 seconds like the Thieves...

They just need to adjust how many can come though 1 portal, like member of the mesmers grp only or max 5 people that will solve this issue...Thats speaking of WvW
All othere pvp game play types the only solution I can think of is a auto cd on all skills of a second or 2 for the person(s) porting though, I really think Anet made this skil thinking it will be for movement only not used in group attacks so then need to change it to make is semi useless for porting and auto zerging from the port.

I personal think it's the cheapest game play atm and without a doubt we will be seeing some type of adjusting in the future.

maybe because a glass thief can kill a glass mesmer in 1/2 the time it takes for a glass mesmer to use the portal out skill + wait for the portal to become usable? dosnt help you vs the team that comes out the portal BUT if your a good 100% glass thief vs a good 100% glass mesmer you WILL be able to down him and probably stomp him before his group arives.
