So, I dye my armor in the Hero pane and it looks quite different from how it ends up actually looking in the world. Here is an example.

Now I much prefer the way it looks in the Hero pane. I don't really like that it's shiny and faded. Sup with dat?

The only thing I could think of is that 1) it's a bug with the dye (so whats the name of it, so it can be tested) and 2) It might be your graphical settings.

judging by the picture quality I would wager its some sort of low setting in your graphics options.

It's the same with all dyes, and here's a screen with all settings maxed:

If the image quality looks low it's because Imgur is compressing it.

Do different materials behave differently? Or metallic vs. vibrant dyes? I suspect it's a lighting thing.

UPDATE and solved: it's the Shaders setting in graphics. Put shaders on low and now it looks like in the Hero pane. Shaders on Medium or High and it gets all shiny. Huh.

Well let this be a cautionary tale to those out there who ... care, I guess!

Also I can't believe I spelled dyeing wrong in the title -_-
