Finally finished crafting the legendary focus Minstrel today. It seems rather underwhelming and possibly the worst legendary yet.



The only effect that I can see is that notes will fly out from the focus, similar to the Immobulus, though to a much weaker degree making it hardly noticeable. There's also no trail or anything similar to that of the Immobulus.



The note effects are not even constant like the Immobulus and will disappear after a certain amount of time, making the weapon look basically just like any standard weapon without effects.


There is no hit, sound, or feet effects. All you basically get is a focus with a weak Immobulus effect.

Two incredible Greatswords, not a single caster item worth mentioning. Oh well, guess they're catering to the ~40% of their playerbase playing a heavy armor profession.

It is still a beautiful skin but considering the difficulty in attaining it that is disappointing.
Maybe it isn't finished yet?

You should be able to get a refund for that piece of shit. Oh well, at least you can say you're the first one. We all need pioneers after all.

On the plus side, the model is really good.

I  wouldn't be surprised if some of the legendaries got updated, there seems to be a massive gap in quality between some of them.

They set the precedent with those ridiculous greatswords now people expect every legendary to live up to those standards, which they should because they are LEGENDARIES.

And yet there are people finding those great swords ugly and such as well.
It all comes down to personal opinion.
There will never be a single item in the game (or any game) that everyone will like.

Ok but lets face the truth, this is subjectively and objectively, the worst legendary ever. Ive never liked any legendary in the game, and your point about subjectivity is good, but this... just look at it. Its an harp, which some players may find cool, but which I find terrible, especially as a focus, with no noticeable effect: at least the notes should be big, everlasting and pop up every time you swing it or something like that. Maybe it could make an harp swing every time you use a skill. But no, its an harp with little notes noone will ever notice. To be honest, Id prefer to use a normal focus. The Chimeric Prism(HoM reward) costs 0 copper, and I find it way way way better than a weapon which costs a ton of gold.

I'm sorry for you that the skin is such a let down, if I was you i'd be going for The Anomaly since it has a very bright glowing effect which looks really cool. The craft needs 1 bloodstone shard tho.

Is it wrong to pick a profession just because of a Legendary?

I'd like to have a legendary, but I don't want a piece of crap after all the legendary work. I'm feeling kinda forced to pick a warrior or guardian in order to look cool.

My main is an engineer and I was planning to work on the predator.

Uh oh. I'm about 2/3 of the way to making this, now I'm considering just making a legendary on my Warrior instead, because it's pretty obvious every good-looking legendary is usable by them. So sad on Arena-Net's part. Pathetic even.

I mean, look at the hammer, the sword, the 3 greatswords...

Now look at the dagger barely noticable, the quip, focus, the scepter its just awfully bad done, the gap is too big.

I think the issue here is that the legendaries are as they are now. There should have been a lot of really cool looking items available period, instead of a handful of 'legendaries' that may or may not be appealing to individuals. Some unique items like that do exist to a limited extent, but they are all mystic forge recipes.
