Im starting to miss old not casual MMO's. Looks like there exinct for more profitable casual gamers.

people who got early legendaries got them because they planned it even before release
imo legendaries shouldn't have been in the closed beta, it really spoiled the rarity

Yeah now you mention it that would of been a better idea of them to do. Instead there nerfing how quickly you get legendary's so some have got it quickly and now others trying to get them will take alot longer.

Did not play alpha and only played 1 of the beta events and got to level 30. So really I didn't plan anything until the guide came out.

Not worth the effort imo but to each their own. I'm sure there will be cooler and easier to get weapons in expansions and maybe even holiday events like the chainsaw.

It's cool that's for sure, but certainly not worth it as it is now.

He either dropped hella cash on this game or he farmed gold like mad at the beginning and bought gems while they were 1g per 400-ish.

so basically, like the majority of people who already have a legendary he paid tons of real money for gems and converted them to gold to flat out buy everything he could.


makes its A LOT less impressive when you know someone with lots of disposable income just bought their way to these things, those 80k gems he has right now is like $1,000 and thats just what he has left after already being done converting them into gold to fund it. atleast Anet got a good pay day out of it

i dont think you read my post correctly .

edit: you pretty much large sum of gems to your view of 1000's of dollars spent on the game and in reality only small portion of what you thought then capitalized on early game gains, but you can think what you will.

Don't jump to conclusion when someone already have legendary means they spent a crap load of cash. I bought my legendary for 40G like a bit after the first week release. Did TP flpping for 80% of my gold and if you farmed Cursed Shore for 1 million karma that should netted you roughly 120-150 gold just by selling the loots that's not even included the rare items you pick up.

I am pretty close to my 2nd and 3rd legendary right now too, just need 400-500k karma for each then I am good to go. The karma is probably the hardest part, the exploration is the annoying part. If you know how to play the market gold is very easy to come by without even touching the gem store or resort to rmt.

For people who didn't play the market when the game was first released and focused on pvp or other things it is hard to say gold is very easy to come by. However, I've been farming for about 2.5 weeks without any help and all I need is my precursor weapon like many other people. The market is much harder to play now and has resulted in me losing alot of gold already, so telling someone to play the market to make gold easily isn't true because it is a gamble now more than ever. The people I know that have a precursor either got lucky with the forge/drop, exploited early in release, or worked the tp in its infancy.

He's wrong for assuming that most people who got legendaries all paid to win (in fact the more accurate assumption would be that they all have rediculous time spent played), but that said it's pretty obvious that the OP does enforce that stereotype.  80K+ gems basically means he had to spent $1000, as there's no purpose to have that many gems other than convert them to gold (meaning he didn't do the reverse).

It doesn't mean the OP didn't do the work either, but it certainly lessened how much he did and cheapened the whole process by how much he sped it up.

I find it funny how you keep mentioning how none of this exploit throughout your whole post. Makes me wonder. Because no one here has even asked you if you exploited.

He has already claimed that he didn't spend a lot of money to buy those gems.  Whether he did or not can never be proven (without access to Anet's records), but just to put it in perspective, 80,000 gems would have cost less than 300 gold during the first few weeks.  Depending on his luck with the gem prices, he could have paid as little as 250.  How he got to 300+ gold in the first few weeks is anyone's guess, but it's also reasonable to assume he made a ton of money flipping since he correctly predicted precursors would go up in price so much.  Keep in mind, he could dump those 80k gems and make 800g today - so you have to understand, the way this person is playing the market is FAR out of reach of all but maybe a few hundred players.  Maybe a few dozen.

The more disturbing thing to me is the time:  even spending 10% of his log-in time not playing as he claims, that's still an average of over 12 hours a day playing.  And unless he doctored his screen shot, this part is undeniably true.
