It would be very easy and simple to add short text hints to the related NPC dialogs. No fancy programming, just replace some of the useless flavor dialog with some relevant information. The NPC in Grenth for example spews lines and lines of useless dialog, why not put some useful information there?
I don't think is is making it too easy, how many players pay any attention at all to NPC dialog? I do think enough would so that these events would not fail as often as they do now.
What I think is happening is that as soon as players hit 75+ they head for Malcore's and Cursed Shore and jump into these events in mass. It turns out to be very frustrating for them when the events fail despite there being plenty of players there.
It is useless to try and communicate in game during these events. Players ignore their chat window when so much action is going on, however enough might take in what the NPC's say at the beginning so that the event can be successful.
