Im not sure if there is an official post but i was lurking on the official forums and i saw something regarding zhaitan's corpse viewable by anet

It was said in an interview shortly prior to release. I recently found a gw.dat image of Arah's map that has a dragon corpse, but it doesn't really match the release one and outside one wing (the other missing/covered), it doesn't look like Zhaitan too much - on the map, it's located SE of where the GL is.

There's multiple changes between them, only the general layout remaining the same, and the latter seems to be the release one.

So it seems that Zhaitan's corpse may have been removed - at least from the map itself.

I doubt that's Zhaitan. It doesn't look anything like him, and I don't think that's Arah around him.

It seems to be. The dragon in the beta Arah map doesn't look like Zhaitan at all either. The puddles seem to line up approximately, at least.

The presumable corpse also kind of resembles earlier concept art of Zhaitan, doesn't it?

I'm just saying it looks similar in posture to what Konig's map kinda shows. Hell it even shows bodies of water in front of the corpse's mouth and such.

The landscape looks Orrian to me, matching the beaches a bit around Cursed Shore. It is missing the Orrian structures seen in the map. But you also gotta remember that this trailer was made three years ago. So they more than likely changed the landscape, moved things here and there. Added makeup and miracle cream left and right...

But well... the top of his head shape thingy kinda stays the same in every image... but its a generic head...

I do believe that was a previous version of Zhaitan - much like how the Branded Ogres and sylvari got a redesign after having in-game models, Zhaitan seems to have as well (but why, why couldn't they have the old Zhaitan model as a unique champion!? Shrinking it down wouldn't be impossible, right?). The wings stay the same during both versions (the largest wings for the new model, mind you), and note that on the map the right wing - the one crippled in the fight with Zhaitan - is not shown. And as Zeon said, the horns stay - more or less - the same as well.

I'm more disappointed about the fact that we can't see his corpse in the final version of Arah though... It would've been so awesome.

Maybe you can and he's just far far off on the horizon, so it's more of an easter egg than a "Oh yeah remember how you murdered this guy?"

To be honest, when I saw that corpse in the original trailer, with its wide gaping mouth... I thought of how cool it would be if it was an entrance to a dungeon or something. Like a graveyard of dragons in the swamps found in Kryta or in the Maguuma Wastes near Majesty's Rest. With the final boss being a more powerful Rotscale or something...

Eh, maybe I played Dragon Quest 8 too much...

Judging by the map, unless the dragon from the gw.dat map was removed from the actual dungeon, it should be in one of the four paths - though I think only one.

But TBH, Zhaitan died far to the east than where that dragon on the gw.dat map is. Or maybe SE.

This one has the damaged wing and is right on top of the "Elder Dragons Lair" which i believe is where/near where he falls. Do you ever go near the lair in an explorable path?

As far as I know? No. That's why I suspect it got removed. The comment by Jeff and Ree about seeing his corpse in the dungeon was probably a mis-remember about removed content (if I am right that is, which I hope I am not).
