as i'm leveling up my wep smith to 400, i'm planning to craft some Corrupted weapons, which based on my undersatnding, are soulbound on acquire (according to gw2db, cause other sites don't seem to list it as soulbound?).
that being said, if i wanted to send the skin to someone. would i be able to transmutate it to a "white" item, thus un-binding it, and then mail it to them? i know this method works for the alts and other characters on the same account..
and if corrupted weapons are not soulbound (cause using an app, i can search for them on the TP? i.e. have sales prices, and buy offer prices..), would i be able to do the above mentioned with dungeon bought weapons? transmutate to white, unbind it, and then mail to other character? again, just for the skin obviously.
the reason being is i was being smart and bought a weapon i cannot use myself with the intention of giving it to someone, without remembering that token bought weapons were soulbound lol. sigh. have yet to try this, but if someone knows the answer, then i'd rather not get rid of the exotic status and keep it for something else later.
appreciate all help!

Corrupted weapons are soulbound on use. That's why they can be sold on the Trading Post or mailed, so long as they aren't equipped. You can give a Corrupted weapon to anyone without using the transmutation trick, just don't equip it.
The transmuting to white trick makes items account bound. They cannot be mailed or sold, only transferred between your own characters using your own bank account.

thanks for the quick reply, Kaydin! and that, answers all my questions.
so i should be all good then, as long as i don't equip them, which i can't either so that's good to know.
since the t trick only allows them to be account bound, the most i can do is use them on an alt?
in that casei might bet on the mystic forge... but we'll see. thanks again

I tried them all out and it works for everything except:
- race specific gear
- town clothes
- different armour class
.. but it does work for order gear, all karma pieces and such.
Great trick! ;-)

Why this never worked for me?
Takin soulbound item with interesting skin
slapping on to a white item (taken from weaponsmith - thus not soulbound)
get white item with interesting skin but still soulbound to original char.
Am i missing something?
EDIT: nevermind, i think i figured out it.

It will still say soulbound, but it's actually account bound.
