GW2 Patching System needs improvementgw2 sugestion

There's nothing wrong with having to wait half an hour for the content from a MAJOR PATCH to download...
And once you have downloaded it, you can play again immediately, there's not server downtime like in other MMO's.
Also as pointed out before, A-NET may not actually finish the patch until a few hours before it is released, so there might not be any way for them to release it any sooner.
But I'm sure this is just me being a fanboy, because who cares if GW2 has a better patching system than practically all other MMO's?!

Keep in mind however that most of the data did actually download while you were playing. They did apply it when loading though.
Wrong "after hours" you had to unpack already downloaded content which took <1 minute while if you went right into LA it took several minutes becuase it was actually downloading.
Okay, I concede that it may have been downloading while I was playing. But I still fail to understand how downloading resources while your playing then applying/unpacking them (the actual resource-intensive part) when you go through a loading screen is any better than just front-loading the resources with the patch in the first place, which is what they do now. I, for one, have a long enough loading screen to go through when heading to LA without having to deal with downloaded content unpacking on top of everything.
With resources being front-loaded, you know where the bottleneck in your playtime will be, instead of loading up in a map somewhere thinking everything's fine, then going to LA and having to sit through a 5 minute loading screen while resources unpack.
But, as I said in a previous post, this is just me trying to explain my opinion on the current situation and reasoning behind it. So take what you will from it.

How are people having to wait 15 or 30 minutes for the game to patch? Mine has never, ever taken more than 3 minutes or so, even with the biggest patch.
Some people aren't the only person using a single internet connection at the time of the patch.
Both my fiance and I play the game and it can take up to 45 minutes for a patch, apparently (since this was the first major patch since launch we didn't know how bad it could be).

Anyways, seems to me that both games more or less use the same type of updating, only difference is how GW2 kicks you off so it can take place (again, the persistant world).
Also, on your complaint about the cash shop, as has been stated before Anet has more then a few bills to pay. They've several time the number of employees, theres the cost of the physical servers themselves, and paying back their bookies (aka NCsoft).
And frankly I don't buy the idea that this game is P2W. Everything I've gotten so far is no different then what I had bought in gw1's store (character slots, storage, costumes). Yet I've more of those boosts you mentioned then I know what to do with, all of which I got from simply playing the game.
Finally, I'll add this part to forstall any snarky comments. No, I don't have dialup, just a really old DSL. No, I'm not going to move, I live in the Twin Cities, which is a sizable metro in its own right and has plenty of avaible internet services. And unless you are going to provide funds for attaining said better services, don't tell me to upgrade. I have more important things to spend my money on.
