Im making alts and I have one of each race already, Asuran Guardian, Sylvari Necro, human ele, charr warrior and norn ranger.

Im not sure what race to pick now for thief. I like the idea of human thief but not sure what to pick since I have one of each race aleady. Charr thief seems off the role and is too big like norn, so that leave asuran, human, sylvari thief.

I do quite abit of WvW and pve.

Any suggestions?

I think charr makes perfect sense as a thief if you go Ash Legion. Otherwise, I'd say a human street rat or dusk sylvari. Aesthetically speaking, I think human would be best. But I am kind of biased. =P

charr or norn would prob be the best for uniqueness. you rarely see those 2 races as thieves.

but since you dont like either...id say from the 3 left sylvari would be the more unique choice. theres plenty of human thieves and more than enough asuran ones. youll stand out more as a sylvari.

but this is only if you care about not going with the flow.

mmm... I went with human thief as it suit my characters role / name more. Thanks for help. A few seconds into tutorial and im able to spam heartseeker 5 times before running out of initiative lol. Initiative is OP, no cooldowns is awesome lol.

Wait? You do 5 attacks in a row and then have to wait until your initiative (cool downs) are replenished?!?! OMG...that's so OP!!

Personally I rolled a human street rat and I believe it works rather well. You come from the streets, stealing to survive, and get caught up in this overarching plot to save the world.

Went charr thief myself.  It makes sense.

Big cats, right?  What kind of predators are cats, typically?  Ambush.  Ambush predator?  Sounds like a thief to me!

Only gripe is the trenchcoat look looks odd on a charr, usually, and most of the helmet options look horrible.  I ended up just hiding my head item or using the anonymity hood because it's really as good as it gets for us. XD

I made a Sylvari because:

They look creepy.  I like my assassin types subtly monstrous.
They have some very body thin frames suggesting agility available.
The bio glow and weird eyes look cool under a hood.

I went Sylvari. With a pale skin... feel like a freaking angel of death or something hehe.

A lot of it comes down to aesthetics and whether or not you try and play your character as having a particular personality.

If you want uniqueness in your character (which a lot of people seem to like) then, as stated by some previous posters, go with Charr or norn, but since they don't really fit your view of what a thief is, then a sylvari would probably be the next best choice for uniqueness.

The main thing I looked at was how the armor looked on the particular race, especially given the prevalence of transmutation stones, making it easy to switch the look of your armor while keeping the same stats.

I personally went human Noble, just because I thought it was a little bit different approach from the street rat story, but still stuck with human because I like the way the armors fit them.

When it comes down to it though, its up to you and your preferences.

Personally I think more often than not, human aesthetics trumps everything in terms of how armor looks and fits on their character models. Especially something like a Thief's coat-like armor that can run into clipping issues on other character models. It appears as though almost all armor was "built" on a human and then simply edited to work for all other races. Human elitist!
