Hi,

I already now this site: http://donoftheslum....s.com/mzXq5s3Le

But are there more good looking medium armour for me?
Maybe some nice combinations or something else.

I'm a level 80 Sylvari ranger
And I'm currently unhappy about the medium armour.

Cheers,

I don't see the male sylvari cultural set on that website. Have you tried looking at the those yet? The vendors should all be in The Grove.

I personally like the COF and Arah dungeon set, but I just wish there was a hood or something that would cover up my Asuras ears, or some medium armor that wasn't a trenchcoat...please ArenaNet, please.

I saw a screenshot in the official forums once of a thief with hooded armor that looked a lot like that of Assassin's Creed.

No clue where he got it tho.

IIRC the hood is only available as a start toon, so if you don't pick that toon choice and/or dump the hood, you're screwed. :/

What always surprises me is that people often go through great lengths to make their character exactly how they want - only to completely cover it up with some prestige endgame armour that hardly shows your character looks anymore. ^_^

You can still create a new toon with that hood, transmute it onto any other leather-headgear and bank it, then delete the toon. :)

Actually, it's more than just the medium armors that are underwhelming.

I tend to agree, though there are some that don't repulse me, so there's that.

And I'm actually quite fond of my human female guardian's draconic armor. It looks quite good to me when dyed in metallic colors.

Of course it's all a matter of taste, although I really don't understand the idea behind quite a lot of designs.
for instance: do you see anyone walking around in priory heavy armour? Compared to for instance, Vigil stuff?

Unfortunately, this is one of the big complaints about GW2; armor design.  Far too many sets look too similar.  Long, flowing skirts/coats, skin tight pants (or hot pants if you're a female scholar), and full sleeves.  A few sets like this is cool, but this describes like... 95% of them among all three types.  It's especially noticeable if you wear medium armor.  Hope you like trench coats, cuz that's most likely what you'll get.

I personally like the armor designs, but I can see the lack of variety that bugs other people.  I hope ANet has taken this into consideration and will add some different sets as free content and not wait until an expansion.

I didn't catch, are you female or male, but this is for females.

I'm a Sylvari too (female), and I like Duelist chest, CoF shoulders, TA gloves (pretty flower), Duelist legs and Duelist boots. I don't like the boots, but they're the best I can find.

Currently I'm working towards this set: Sylvari T3 chest and shoulders, T2 legs, TA gloves and boots. I have previewed this set in Mists, and I really liked it. I might change Sylvari T2 legs to TA legs.

If you're an engineer, I think the vigil looks nice. Doesnt really fit with a bow or daggers, ect if you're a thief or ranger.

That's another armor issue that's been bugging me to no end: armor/weapon combinations.

There are hardly any armors for my female sylvari caster that don't completely "eat up" most of her weapons. I'm not talking about minor clipping issues, I'm talking about weapons disappearing for 50 up to 90% in all the wide skirts. Dagger/horn/axe worn at the side? I might see a tiny bit of the pommel sticking out. Staff on the back? The bottom half completely dissapears into most skirts. When I crafted her level 80 rare armor (masquerade), I was going to take my time and just harvest some stuff I needed to upgrade to exotic (exalted), but upon seeing the awful, awful, awful clipping issues, I immediately went to the TP to buy the materials I still needed. I'd probably be sticking with exalted forever because of this issue, even if I did like some other armor set.

Yea, I have to agree. Something went horrible wrong in the design phases where someone decided "Let's have the medium armor be different sets of trench coats", to be honest, any medium armor person I see, I simply assume they are all using the same armor. There is very little to tell them apart besides the color they are using.

Oh and maybe the strange western/cowboy hat thing they have going on too. I can't even understand why there is so little variety behind the medium armor selection. The only thing I can think how it fits a theme is for the engineers, as engineers have so many gadgets they need big ol' trenchcoats to shove all of their grenades and spanners in.

For males, Heritage, WvW, and Named armors look good for medium rangers.

For females, Heritage, WvW and Cultural T2 armor look good for medium rangers.

Which would be fine by me, having been a sucker for longcoats in GW1, except that the designers also forgot how to design one so it looks like something other than a short jacket with a butt cape attached. Take a look at the lines on the Krytan longcoat from the gem shop and compare to most longcoats you can craft or purchase in-game. (To be fair, this is probably a result of the armors being designed so that the bottom part of the upper garment is actually part of the leggings. To be able to mix-and-match armor parts, you have to be able to switch leggings without making the upper garment look incomplete or totally ridiculous.)

That said, I prefer human T2 cultural or Named over T3, though you get a sort of half-butt, half-hip cape. For sylvari male, T1 or T3 cultural look like a good choice. CM dungeon armor looks like it might be tolerable as well.

and here's how he made it:

"Here is how I got it:
Head -> Starting hood
Chest/hands -> Duelist exotic lvl 70+
Shoulders → Jofast shoulders from Jofast karma NPC in Cursed
Legs -> Stentor Leggings (due to knives), north of the Strait of Devastation isle on the left
Boots -> Noble boots

It’s about 1g and half + 1000karma for all.

I dream of an Assassin Creed guild one day…" - Red Falcon

So styOpa was right, the hood is the starting head gear.

Heh, that's some of the worst armor I've seen actually. It doesn't look bad, but the design is ridiculous. Huge flaps of leather around the legs that get in the way of mobility, practically nothing in places you'd want some protection. Only in video games and fantasy art will that be considered armor. :P

Too many of the Guild Wars 2 armors suffer from this fundamental flaw.  They feature way too much material below the waist which would only get tangled in the brush and otherwise hinder movement.

As much as I enjoy the GW2 gameplay, its armor designs are atrocious.

I run commando armor on my human engineer, it’s one of my favorite medium armor sets.
I got all but the gloves and shoes doing my personal storyline (73+), though I’ve heard you can get the armor through map completion.

Fyi, the hat for the PvE armor set is DIFFERENT from the pvp, I have no clue why.

Gli, you know the light armor sets?

Guess you are out of luck with GW2 armors then. As Sylvari fan you get shafted anyways in terms of armor, the Asura and Charr females are even worse off though, they just get the male version.
