Gw2Recruiting.com Has gotten big, so big in fact that our old server threatened to shut down the website if we did not upgrade to a more powerful dedicated server. lol, So we did ofcourse and we would like to thank everyone that is using the website. We really feel like the system we have created will help guilds and players find what there looking for and where very proud of the website. - Guilds can now only select 2 types for "Guild Focus" and PvX has been added
- Changed our Rss Feed to googles trusty (Feed Burner) for statistics
- Manually changed every guild that was PvX based to the new PvX category
- Each Character page can now only select 1 focus to help recruiters find them easier
- Information about focus types added to there respective pages
- Added an (Endless) pager to Guilds, PvP Teams, Character and Top Rep'd Guild page
- Added (Popular Today) bar to every page - Resets every day at 9:00PM EST time
- Removed new teams, players, and guilds blocks from every page except home page

UPDATE LIST: 11-12-2012
- Added an internal linking system to the text editor (Allows you to simply type the name of a page)
^ this is to help when members are private messaging one another and want to present a link to a page.

No problem, it took us some time to get it fully functional and ready for release but where really happy with the fact that players and guilds can talk with each other on the website.

While im here, Some new features on gw2recruiting.com that whent live this morning.


New Feature #1: Some players where having difficulty finding out how to sort through the guilds by server. We think this was due to the dropdown menu confusing players. So we have removed the dropdown and added the links for the secondary search functions to the guild / player / sPvP team listing pages on the top. This should clear up the confusion.
New Feature #2: Guilds can now list the number of players in there guilds by aprox rounded values. This can be updated by going to your page and clicking the edit tab at the top.

For the competitive scene is there any chance to add a focus that would allow us to better find those of similar set.

tPvP or cPvP (competitive)

PvP is too broad and sPvP may be to broad as well.

Or even a whole section to Players Looking for Teams ?

I like the idea with players looking for teams.. (Changed) - added to pvp teams pages

And yes I can do it as in depth as you would like, But I will need you to do me a favor, because I dont pvp very much.

Could you list all the dif types that people are looking for Ex: tPvP cPvP etc.. and then explain them a little?,
This will help me better understand how to make the system work best., I can add all the dif types to the players looking for team pages and have them searchable by each dif catagory.

UPDATE: 11-2-2012

NOTE: This went a different route. This system is implemented now but there is no Looking for Team page. Instead we just simplified the system by adding it to the Recruiting PvP teams page and made it a searchable function.

cPvP - Players looking to play at more than a casual level (Aiming at Esports level play)
(Do Paids, Compete in Private Tournaments/Ladders, ussually have 150+ tournament wins per main)

tPvP - Players looking to play Tournaments (free/paid)
(Basically for the gear and activity not to necessarily aiming at esports)

sPvP - Players looking for a more casual PvP experiences

Thanks much sir, This weekend Ill be doing some patches to the website.

#1 - Create directories for more specific PVP styles of play for pvp teams (Make Searchable) COMPLETE*
#2 - Create a "Players looking for teams" section, (Limit 5 pages per user) (Undecided)

Future updates (Time unknown)

#1 - Create an auto expire to player pages (Pages will last 1 month)

An insane amount of new features just when live this morning. Including but not limited too.

- Top Rep'd Guilds page (Lists guilds by there reputation) or votes

Cool site, but do you know about GW2Guilds.org?

Yes, this site was designed as more of a community database, Gw2guilds.org is great and we are not trying to take anything away from them there system works well and is great for maintaining a list of all the guilds posted to there site. GW2recruiting was designed to be more of a community system where the players and guild leaders can talk back and forth without having to jump around from website to website to communicate. (or get in game) Same goes for PvP teams. We also took a different aproach at the filtering system and added in a bookmarking platform to make it easier to refind pages. Integrated social networks and a tagging system as well as a really cool ranking system based on GUILD REP. <<-- I love this

Think of GW2recruiting as a communication platform and gw2guilds as a database engine. Both serve a purpose, it just depends on how the user wants to interface with the website.

Honestly we recommend posting to both! The more places your guild has information the more likely you are to find players.

Out of curiosity, is there any special reason why you choose Drupal for the site's CMS or is this just a personal preference?

Well theres a couple reasons really. Most of which are related to personal preference. Drupal is very secure, powerful (nothing competes) , capable, and of crouse Open source, so you can work it however you need. But mostly because, its really the best in terms of content management. (opinion) Iv been working directly with Wordpress, joomla and drupal over the past 3 years now and I have to say I truly prefer drupal over the rest. Its just .... better (opinion)

Important note:


GW2recruiting is now running on a VPS server. If you signed up during the time that it took to swap the servers there is a possibility that your account was eliminated during the swap. You can check this by trying to log in. If it says that the account name is not associated with an active account on gw2recruiting then you will need to recreate your account.
Our records show that the website activity wasn't very high during the time of swap so at most this could have happened to 4 or 5 accounts.
We apologize for the inconvenience to those particular users. But rest assured you will have a much faster and better experience on gw2recruiting now.

That sounds like a good idea.. or would it be better to create a whole new section on players looking for pvp teams?

EDIT: We have already created a solution to this problem by fusing the "Looking for guild" pages with a new set of fields that allow a member to create a character page that can find them both pvp teams or guilds.

In turn, guild or team recruiters can segregate the character pages by using the drop down menus on the new "Player looking for..." page.

Character Pages will be deleted on gw2recruiting.com in 3 hours,
We have implemented a new system so that Character pages and PvP Team Pages will automatically expire after a certain amount of time. PvP Team Pages will last for 2 months and character pages will last for 1 month, This will keep fresh and active content on those pages. 5 days prior to the expiration of a pages members will be notified by email that there page will expire soon, They will then have the option to renew there page for 1 month if they have not found a guild yet, The same will apply to PvP team listings.
We do not plan to delete the current pvp pages at this time, since there are so few we will manually remake the pages for those pvp teams so that the system will apply to there page.
If your character page contains a lot of information that you do not wish to retype we suggest that your copy and paste your page contents into a document and save it on your computer. This way after the reset you can simply paste your page contents back into your new page.
We feel that this system will keep the website clean and up to date..
