Does your +MF affect your chances of getting a better quality dye when:
a) Using an unidentified dye
b) Using a crafted dye, e.g. Unidentified Gray Dye (Rare)

Guildy of mine buys unidentified dye in bulk, 250 or more at a time. He tried a batch of 250 with mf and without mf and still got the same amount of uncommon/rare dyes.

The only thing people know about mf is pretty much speculation as I don't think anet has come out with an official explanation. Some people say it affects dye, bags and chests as well as drops but from my experience I don't think it does.

I've bought about 1,000 dye off TP by now, and using full nobleman armor+jewelry+omnomnom, have only managed to get two abyss and two celestial dye. Did get more black and whites though. I'm up to about 350 dye in my character customizing.

My guildy bought a batch of 150 dyes and with no mf gear got 4 abyss, 2 celestial and 1 midnight ice. Maybe it's not affected by MF?

I think it's pretty much the same as opening a Black Lion Chest, or the Trick-or-Treat bags - MF doesn't seem to have an effect on opening these items. Imagine if you could, though - it would be too easily exploited, don't you think? I feel like those who had invested in MF would get amazing items, and sell them back, leaving a gap between new players and those who could invest.
It's more fun as a new player to have the same chance of getting rare items from BLC and dyes!
