While they are cheap...

Ahh this is why I love Steam (unless one day it goes down and I never have access to my games again...)

Just a friendly reminder that most "horror" games on Steam are selling for really cheap.

Got Amnesia while it's 75% off. (I downloaded it ages ago but it freaked me out so much that I stopped playing it some 10 minutes in.)
Will wait for Orcs Must Die! 2 Game of the Year edition (I imagine this they'll throw it out and bundle every update in it) and Torchlight 2 to also go for 75% off at the end of the year.

I bought Rock of Ages for 2€. While I don't think it will last me for weeks, it's a massively fun game to play against someone when you are on voice software.

I haven't even touched the half-dozen games I bought during the Summer Sale, and probably won't as long as GW2 holds my interest...not enough free hours in the day...

I was thinking about FEAR 3 and Prototype 2 but I watched some reviews and they weren't too favourable. Does anyone have any experience with these games? Are they worth getting for the price or not?

I played FEAR 1 & 2 (plus all DLC's) and they are utter rubbish. The reviews of 3 were even worse. I wish I could have deleted them from Steam, but I just put them into a folder out of view.

I'm in the same situation as astromarmot: with a new big MMO in my life, there just isn't time for buying new games no matter how heavily discounted they are. I'm breathing a sigh of relief just with the Halloween festivities over so that I can do regular stuff like mow my lawn and enjoy the weekends in a better rounded capacity. There are good games I just don't have the time to commit to that require a lot of time (Dragon Age series), and totally sweet games I'd love to give another swing through (Deus Ex HR), excellent games I've bought that I barely have time for (LA Noire), and great games I'd love to play if I had the time but won't buy until I do (TL2, Borderlands 2).

Likely they will. Steam generally has sales at all major holidays and/or events. Such as Halloween, Christmas, New Years, etc. Either sales or events.

D: I don't think my bank account can take another hit, I spent a decent chunk during their summer sale.

I ended up buying Prototype 2 and FEAR 3 over the Halloween sale. Prototype 2 isn't bad... I just wish they didn't swear every other sentence. There are more words in the English language.
I bought FEAR 3 because I kind of enjoyed FEAR 2 to some extent. The multiplayer was poop, and the story ending was very weird. Well, the whole game was weird, but it made me jump out of my skin a few times so I bought the sequel :D

Have you tried Dead Space (2) and Amnesia yet? (°x °)

^ I was tempted by Amnesia but... it looked kind of weird. I watched a few videos but they weren't all that scary and not a lot seemed to happen. It was just a guy walking around a castle and falling on the floor.
Dead Space 2 would be on my radar if I ever got around to finishing Dead Space 1 haha.

The point of Amensia is to immerse yourself into the game. Now, I normally couldn't care less about immersion, but this game somehow made me want to be the xcharacter - and the first time I played it, I walked around some corner, hear some noises and it freaked me out so much that my hand slipped, I started staring at the ceiling and since I had no idea where the sound came from and since now I couldn't see anything I pressed Esc and started laughing at me being a scary cat. After a few moments I simply logged out since I couldn't bring myself to continue.
When I finally did continue the next day, I found myself advancing and then I crawled up in a corner in the next room and refused to leave it. That's how ended my first Amnesia-experience.

These days, I immerse myself, but I also push myself a "bit" more to continue. ;)

Watching it is boring, but playing it while knowing that it's supposedly super scary makes you jump at each and every noise and movement haha
