An Oldie But a Goodie? Viability of Venom Sharing in Upper Level Content

Hey guys,

I've been looking over a "lot" of threads that relate to condition damage - something I'm really kind of looking forward to building around (I enjoy using bleeds and poison to handle situations that raw damage can't - particularly armored world bosses and the like. To this end, I use the Dagger/Pistol and Shortbow combo - both sets seem to offer decent access to bleeds, with plenty of escape options as well.

However, upon further reading - it seems that the general consensus of most people is to go for Rampager's equipment - as opposed to Carrion (The stuff that I've been using - I suppose I should have wondered at the ludicrous price gap) and even Berserker Jewelry and Critical Strikes investments, to make a sort of hybrid Condition/Critical thing.

This is all well and good, and I've considered similar options, but I'm looking more or less at what sort of build works best for me - I'm trying to build a Venom Sharing build, which is something that I heard rave reviews about back around BWE: 3. My question for you all is this - Should I get with the program and start looking into Rampager's gear? Or is Carrion - and Venom Sharing - still a worthy venture?

I appreciate any input you can provide.

To be honest I don't know a whole lot about venom sharing with a Carrion condition damage build, but I did switch to a Carrion condition damage build a bit ago. So far it has been working quite well against various leveled mobs, my build is bleed focused with evades an extremely high priority, thus I'm using D/D for the impressive bleeds off Death Blossom, as well as the AoE off of it.

I still need to do some more numbers testing, but so far the Carrion build seems to be working and has a good balance between survivability and bleeds. In general I can keep a constant stack of 12-18 bleeds without too much trouble and if I really work at it, can hold a 25 stack on bosses, seeing as most other mobs drop before I get the chance to increase the stack past 15 or so.

You'll obviously have to tweak your Deadly Arts line to focus more on venom usage, but it may give you some ideas of where to start. The build is still a work in progress and haven't gotten a chance to test it in PvP as of this posting and I'm by no means a thief expert, but the build seems to suit my playstyle.

Only other couple things are explained in the guide section of the build. Hope this helps!! :)
