We now have a teaser on the official Guild Wars 2 website which teases the November update, titled "The Lost Shores"

All we know for sure though is that it will be about The Sea of Sorrows. What do you think we shall see in this update? Let us know in the comments.

Well, this is interesting.....and the "that will change Tyria forever!" part highly indicates a previous thread I made that was debunked to TA (not complaining, stating fact): http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/73783-something-will-likely-get-permanently-destroyed/

So yea, I wonder what's going to change/get destroyed forever.

"Not that we will never permanently destroy anything. In fact…" makes me think that they'll be adding stuff, not destroying it.

I have just one wish for this update - not underwater combat.  I'm getting nervous by "shores" in the title.

The shores are basically Tengu territory, no? Tengu walls/npcs around the wall to the north and west (and LA)... I'd sell part of my soul for playable tengu!

Yeah seriously guys.. One time events are not the way to go if you want people to experience things..

Hate to be the one to say it.. But you have a game that has instances.... Start making better use of them. GW1 style missions FTW!

It'd be nice to know now whether the one-time event will require certain level characters to experience.

Need to know whether I can still keep enjoying the game at my own pace, or if I should get one of my characters in to 80 so I don't miss out on more stuff.

A one time event will most likely just be a cutscene similar to the Mad King one. It's not like they are going to have a one time event with a one time only reward that only a handful of the population will participate in.

And instances don't work if this actually changes the world like the LA thing did. Then it's like Instance -> world is changed -> out of instance and nothing has changed.

Anyway, 15th of November is the start of the November update so yay

I actually would prefer to have the chance to see the world change in real time instead of having everything magically changed when a new build is loaded. It's probably a design decision they decided to take with the game in order to make the impact of the content's introduction that much greater.

Besides, if it's anything like the Halloween one time event, it'll be cool to be there, but it's not like you're going to miss out on anything that actually matters in the long run.

I'm glad with that Halloween one, they had it pre-loaded during the last build update so we could see it without having to exit and then everyone scramble to get back in to see it.

I expect the same with this one... probably gonna be preloaded too and then after a while, KABOOM! Something will change forever (maybe those gates the Tengu are guarding will be finally opened...or exploded?)

So, will this new area be permanent? Because I'd be sorely disappointed if every new area they open up turns into a "one-time event" for some vague reason. I mean, why? Why??

I'd understand if the dungeon and world events happening there are one-time (the event that opens up the area, maybe?), but not the zone itself...

No, the area will be permanent, as well as the change that will happen. But that will only happen once (something will probably explode and let us enter the new areas... new players or those who miss the "explosion" won't see it again, only the new map as it will be).

Let's all remember that Arenanet has their own language with heavy superlative usage. "One time event" really means, "Hey you can watch this on Youtube later if you want". Once we understand that, the releases don't seem as dramatic. Yeah, it's nice to be there but I doubt you're going to be missing anything if you don't.

But god, I really love this "new content every month" deal that they've been pushing out. Yeah, it may not be perfect... but we're getting new content... every single month. That itself is wondrous.

I hate one time events. Not necessarily because i'll miss it, but because there's always people left out, which leads to whining.

I'm as excited for the new content as the rest of you.  However, considering that it's possibly one-time or temporary, I hope there aren't any crazy RNG situations like there were with the Halloween events.  It's not what I would consider to be fun to crunch farm something to try to get rare skins/rewards, then not after it's over.

I'm totally in love with Arenanet right now. These one-time events that totally change or add to the gameworld are simply amazing! And it seems that we get things like this almost every month! considered me hooked to this game for life.. Haha! Those that don't like it, you are forgetting that the new content will be there for you. You simply won't witness the cinematic or whatever they do as one-time event. I don't see this is as a big deal and most people will upload the videos anyways!

I'm not sure if this is cooincidence because of the holiday events they have to keep up with, but I also noticed the December 2012 coming soon at the top. We would have a content update in october, november and december for sure. Do you think we're going to have something every month? I mean they do have a large staff now

I would imagine this one-time-only event will be something similar to The Searing in GW1. Once you do it, you can't go back kind of deal.

Like Baktwerel said, if the Tengu will become a playable race, I'l be going "SQUEEEEEE" for days
