Has anyone figured out the intended use for this 6-skill-pt ability?
For what purpose or situation did the skill designer have in mind when making this, seriously?

So it comes with a mere 8sec stealth and protection boon, but guard duration is 180secs...
Am I supposed to use it simply for those 8sec buffs?

6 skill pts for what should have been a basic pet command... Tell me I am missing something here.

Afaik Shouts were hastily implemented just before release and they will along with Spirits and Signets receive an overhaul in one of the next patches; hopefully then we don't have to question ourselves "Does this skill actually have a purpose?" anymore.

They needed some skills to be better than others....so they came out with bad skills like this?

I imagine its for guarding areas in pvp, like okay pet, stay near point A and guard it so people don't cap it while I go up on this wall and snipe people elsewhere.  Or for choke points in pve, like the gate of a camp thats being attacked by a DE, so your pet will just keep chomping stuff as it comes in and not rush off somewhere and die.  Or maybe so you could park your fern hound or moa or whatever somewhere safe where it won't be hit by a boss and it can do its buffing in safety?  But yeah I dunno...doesn't seem to have much use the way it is.

The pet shouts were removed during beta to be replaced but they never got around to it so just put the shouts back in before launch. I've assumed they were just placeholders. Jon Peters confirmed as much when he said they'll be part of the overhaul in the Nov 15th patch.

So ironically as it turns out, I did end up using the skill for the 8sec buffs only, because I was so fascinated with the idea of discovering its intended purpose.
The actual area guarding function, the only function described in its tooltip, is beyond pointless.

I am currently using it as a low cd defensive shout solely to buff my pet's defense.

Apparently it does have some other unadvertised side-uses.
ie: relieve aggro pressure on pet - just recalling a near dead pet sometimes isn't sufficient since the mob usually would chase and kill it anyway. But a free stealth would instantly shift their attention elsewhere.

I had my near dead bear knocked down by a bunch of vet mobs, my heal was on cd, my swap was on cd... the shout stealthed and saved my pet.

If we ignore the tooltip and the skill name, the skill does seem to have some quirky use after all.
But it is still not worth 6 skill pts.

Haha totally, even the used ones are actually really bad, its just guard and other skills like it who make them look good.
