Can you name each of your pets a different name? When I change the name of a pet then all my pets have the same name.

How can I make pets have a different name - or is this not possible?

I haven't had all my pet's names come out the same but they seem to switch around a lot. My pet bird "Howland Owl" can appear with the name "Wallygator", my Drakes name. I have lots of pets and this happens a lot but sometimes not at all. Just sort of buggy.

Press K and click a little pen next to where it says what it is. My main pet is called Foo Foo Cuddlypoops, but NOBODY recognizes that reference

The problem is, the names don't stick with them when you change pets in the management window. I named my pet black widow Arachnophobia for comedic affect, but it didn't stay on him when I changed to a bear and back again. After that, I didn't think it was worth the time to keep renaming them.

I find the opposite to be true right now, in that if I change a pet, the previous name I had for that pet slot was kept despite the entire pet changing (I'm talking from an arctodus to a moa here...)

on topic, I have an arctodus and a polar bear, and their names are Jorri and Borri.  I don't know why, it just sounded cool.

Thanks for all the replies! I do feel better as I thought I was missing something or doing something wrong.

I have a brown bear I named Latte and a raven that was (I don't use it any longer) Espresso. Because I use my bear a lot no matter what pet I put in the second slot it is Latte. If I change to a Moa and try to give it a different name - my Latte bear changes as well.

So I now just have Espresso for all my pets - can you tell I like coffee? LOL

It must be a bug of some kind that each pet can Not have it's own name?

That only happens to me when I first charm a new pet I did not previously have, then click yes to immediately replace my current pet, in the charm UI.

To answer you question, yes you can have different pet names but they get jumbled ever now and then.

I have found that when you charm a pet and hit yes "making it your current pet" it always takes the name of the pet it is replacing.

However, my ranger names all her pets with the same name. She has read about a great ranger from 250 years ago during the times of the great guild wars. She uses his name for each pet to honor him and his great deeds from so long ago.

its always been buggy. at 1st they would just revert to "jeuvenile bear" or whatever after swapping them out and in, even if you gave the pets names. then they "fixed" that problem, and now the names of the pets get jumbled around all the time.

maybe one day theyll get it right, who knows. for now we can just add this to the looong list of problems with ranger pets...

Reminds me of that old joke about the woman who had five sons, all named George. She told a neighbor it was convenient because she could summon them all for dinner by yelling "Hey, George!" When the neighbor asked what happened if she just wanted one particular son for something, she replied that she then used his last name.

I usually name my pets after philosophers, I use different pets in different places, but I usually run with my Wolf (Aristotle) his fear is amazing in those sticky situations anywhere really...and the Brown Bear (Plato)
