You must have missed about 95% of the story if that was all you got from it.

I'd say the generic zombie invasion is at least 30%.

So, you whine about a story you have not even done/read/experienced?
I skipped the plot. I'm complaining about everything about Orr except the plot, though I'm of the same opinions as others that the generic zombie invasion aims low.

They would have done so much better to pick any three non-Orr zones to use for endgame.

How good would LotR be if the entirety of Return of the King was set inside Mordor, and the environment never changed from some overcast, heavily shadowed dark brown wasteland? That's Orr; a monotonous wasteland.

There's so much more to story than just plot. In an MMO, enough of those elements should come across purely in the game world, such that the plot merely enhances the experience within the zone. Orr is quite the opposite; it's offputting unless you know the plot, and even then you're working to suspend disbelief.

As I said, they did themselves a disservice in picking Orr for the initial endgame (or for any content, IMO). It's far easier to design interesting zones when you're not self-imposing certain overarching conditions, such as a monotonous landscape or the use of a single enemy type.

For me, the worst part is that obviously on some level they understand all this, because they did a good job or better with every non-Orr zone. And saying they were rushed doesn't explain why they chose such a poor setting in the first place. Mordor was little more than a cutscene, with just enough content to support it; so to Orr, except they try to make it the primary setting of endgame, which it simply cannot handle for some very basic reasons.

Heck, even the generic zombie invasion would be far more interesting to see play out in other zones than in boring and ugly Orr.

I thought this was "Random complaint about PvE", not "Teenagers whine about how things were back in their days."

yeah, problem is, when kid's have a different opinion they have to argue it, unlike adults who can simply walk away.
