Dates and Times for the Upcoming Lost Shores Event

12pst 8gmt 7ost
let's see how to change them around so it's better for all... any later europe would be playing later into the night/morning, any earlier and the Oceanic would have to be up at silly O'clock. 8pst = 4(am)gmt, 3(pm)ost. That just seems worse to me... the event would be practicaly empty appart from in the US contingant at these times, throughout the weekend and final event.
Considering it's a dynamic event with an outcome, it seems difficult to repeat such a senario unless it was instanced, but my brain seems to shy away from the amount of work that would be involved in that...
When GW1 was server based and events held at different times due to time zones, people would attened the first one available and then sever hopped to feel special, spoiling the shiny'ness of the event for those that were yet to start it. This is a comprimise to keep things shiny and get as many people involved as they can. If it's that important to you, take some time off, or abandon your responsibilities entirely...
I missed out on the event of the last beta, but it didn't cause me to kitten my pants...

The point is that in a game world that's at all dynamic, not every player is going to get to experience every piece of content, period. The only way to avoid that issue entirely is to have a static world, which we've already established that most players don't actually want. So it's just an unfortunate reality of multiplayer gaming.
That being the case... yes, I would rather have some events not repeat, even if I miss those events myself, than keep the game more static or break game logic so I can see everything.
If every important piece of content in Guild Wars was one-time-only, I would agree that it was a problem. The occasional event, though? I think it's worth it to have meaningful changes to the game world happen sometimes.

Regardless of my little rant there I DO like one time events. I love that the game is dynamic and the best they can do is run the events on weekends when people most likely have the day off. However, instead of posting this information on the website it would be nice if I got a mail in the game that told me this so I can ask for that certain day off and more people know its coming.

My suggestion, and maybe someone will take a look, is could it be set up, to where the main server fires off the event...and say assign each one 3 overflow servers...and have each overflow fire off at a different time...and base server assignment on a tag somehow on your toon, that says "I have done X" where X is the event. Set those times so people know, and then let the overflows run the events until the main and all 3 overflows have ran the event. Start moving people around as usual in an overflow situation once the event has ran on each overflow...spreads out the server work, and yes, would take a bit more programming savvy and resources.
Do I think this will happen this time? No.
Could it be done in the future to avoid all the ill will? Maybe, if the krewe at ANET can figure out how to do that to where it doesn't cause any other problems.
That's why I'm throwing it out here, maybe someone will see it and think on how it could be done and use the overflow servers in alleviating this issue.
I understand the frustration, but man you guys can get so angry.

... however fortune has it that I have friday and monday off, penciled that in half a year ago for a reason that has since fallen through. So thanks A.net for being so nice and placing this patch exactly on those otherwise wasted vacation days =)

Sunday hasnt been a none work day for most people, outside of government, for years. They need to stop with these one time only events. Its not fair to most people.

1. Implement guesting.
2. Rotate the event so a quarter of the servers launch the event every six hours.
3. Make sure the schedule is published well in advance.
4. Enjoy happier citizens of Tyria.
Or:
1. Make the one-time event instanced.
2. Run it eight times over the course of 24 hours.
3. Anyone showing up at the location an hour before the event is scheduled gets one of those green "enter personal story instance" thingamabobs to interact with if they haven't done the event yet.
4. Enjoy happier citizens of Tyria.
Or, failing that, at least pick some different times for these events. It appears that noon on Sunday is going to be the default for one-time events. Okay, so that's when the most people are on. Very democratic. The having it on the same time every time screws the minority. Which, hey, is kinda democratic, too.

And you assume that they can have different versions of the world on different servers. This is most likely not the case.

Anyway, there better not be a title/achievement tie to attending "one time event"s .....
But, still it is good to know we are getting new contents!

You do know that the actual one-time event IS on a Sunday right?
The events on Friday and Saturday seems to loop. While the one-time event chain happens on Sunday.

Well, obviously not otherwise I wouldn't have had an issue with the Friday event. If it's true that is a good thing. But then it's STILL bad for the oceanics if the main one time only event thing is on Sunday. Would be best for them to put the main event on a Saturday so everyone can enjoy it.

I think one of the saddest things is not missing this one climax event, but seeing that ANet has decided Sunday Noon PST will be the standard. Those of us who are unlikely to ever make that time can't even shrug it off with "Well, maybe I'll get to do the next big one-time event".
It all seems so strange for a game pitched around the globe, and available around the clock.

Seeing as the new zone is a permanent addition it is highly likely that you will get a chance to see it unless you have decided to stop playing the game.
