Portal not activating correctly.

I was wondering if anyone else was having this issue, or of any known fix. I frequently use portal in WvWvW, and I have a problem that arises pretty often. I'll place my first portal down, jump down somewhere and place another. But now, if I get attacked or if there's enemies nearby, I simply cannot use the portal to get back up. I'm not stunned or anything, the portal simply won't show any action to take while standing on it, and then I die.. No fun. Anyone else run into this?

Yeah, happened to me several times aswell. Hope anet will fix it soon :) .

And your sure you arent just out of range with you exit portal?

There is a range on the portals, so if the 2 portals are too far apart, you wont be able to go through them.
I have estimated the range to be ~5000, but that is only from observation of many 'Crap went too far now I have to walk' moments and not from extensive testing.

The range on the portal is approximately one completely zoomed in radar range, I'm not sure if height matters but I assume it does. If you put it outside the range the portal will activate, but you can't use it. There's no indication of when you're too far or not.
One way to get a feel for how far it is, is to place a personal waypoint on the entrance and see how far you can put the exit.

i've noticed this aswell. And it's not the range. Because the next time i used portal i made the Portal Exit even further away, and that time it did work. :)

I guess it's just a bug that sometimes you just can't use your portal.

*Mesmer's Portal was OP and often bugged as well so we take the easy route and remove the skill entirely. In it's place we give skill X

I haven't tested yet, but I heard rumor of a stealth nerf to portal's range effective yesterday, 11/14.  Got a buddy saying the range was cut in half.  Portal bombing properly placed catapults is gone if so.  Just putting this on the radar in case anyone wants to do some testing too.
