Any ideas as to when an expansion will come?

I've always thought expansion will include a new race, unsure about new profession.

Update!

It's been a while, but I have kept improving this slowly in all these months. I'll leave all the old information there as a reminder/archive, but the new one is inside the link to the official wiki below. So this is it, my first expansion theorycrafting idea, fully fleshed out, "2.0". I hope you have fun reading it, I had a lot building it, writing it in a readable form and then compiling it in wiki-format with pictures and all. And be warned, when I say long, I mean it for real.

First expansion theorycrafting: Jormag, Tengu and Far Shiverpeaks 2.0

It's a pretty huge piece of text, so I probably made mistakes somewhere. I welcome all kinds of constructive criticism around it. The lines/model of this theorycrafting is what I would like to see from an expansion, and what I think would be the best way to implement it. The setting? I think it's the logical next step, but story can be written to make any scenario viable.

If they release "expansion" and add new zones and maps under lvl 80 it would be like committing ritual suicide (Anet), i mean game sucks as it is Tyria still has more then 50% of maps closed off for players, adding stuff that will not be lvl 80 would destroy completely any hope that this game can be better then it is right now (not such a high bar) !

We already have "jump to lvl 20" consumables plus crap load of lvl up ones do you really think anyone would actually level  from lvl 1 - 80 again ???

P.S If they do this i will sell my kidney on black market and hire pro hacker to delete entire game from their servers (backup included) !

Actually with the scaling system in place i'd say it would be a good time for a few new <80 zones. All those lvl 80 players playing areas full of sub t5 mats would balance the prices a little better.

There is no need to have people re-level like in gw1 campaigns and of course you'd want most new zones to be lvl80 but a few low level zones added would keep balance.

Yeah, I think we need some new low-level zones to be honest. Levelling is boring - especially around the 40 mark, because you know the only fun way is either dungeons or WvW. The zones are pretty much dead. I would like an update to the current zones as well to be honest. Give them some new/extra dynamic events, a couple of new meta events and maybe even a few more dungeons between levels 40-70.

Also, Lonami - you should be a Game Designer as your ideas are awesome :D

I hadn't posted hear since... Well, I don't remember when. I just recently came back to the game, and while I like it (it is a good game; maybe not a great game... yet, and for me) it as flaws. But level-scaling is not one of them. It is actually one of the strong points of the game and a reason explaining why I hope that Anet will add low/medium levels zones in the future. Because with the scaling, any zone of the game can be made relevant to the story, not simply 80+ zones.

Now, the biggest feature for a GW2 expansion would be a huge Codex, for the Lore nuts like myself, since while there is a lot of Lore ingame, it is presented poorly, IMHO. WIth the Codex, once informations have been unlocked, you don't have to go through the deepest end of a zone to read it again.

Still, you're work is awesome, Mister Lonami.

Edit : just read the whole thread (Old and New), and it is even more awesome than I though. I especially like the Watchers, the Region Ranks and the Dungeons... even if I would have added one to unshroud the mysteries around the Ogres, Kodans, Norns and Jotuns, all specis which seemed to be tied to one another (at least, it is the impression I got after reading the old Arena.Net blog's posts about them).

Exactly. With scaling, it doesn't matter the level of the zones.

Thanks :D.

And yeah, the zones of those ranges need cool metaevents so people has fun. Those zones aren't as polished as the 1-25 and 70-80 zones.

I think the story is fine. Storytelling, however, is very bad in this game. Just go and ask people about memorable characters or storylines, there's pretty much none. The game is awful at storytelling, and if I had the power to fix anything, I would fix this before anything else.
