I want to try and play some support in WvW and dont want to use my Guardian or necro for it, so now i wonder which of these 3 is the best for support.

To me engineer seems to be the most versatile of the bunch but im not sure about that at all. Havent played much of these professions.

Definitely Ele. Spec support, lay fields, heal away.

Out of curiosity, why don't you want to play support guardian? They are one of the best support professions, and we could use more of those on the field.

Mostly for their lack of range damage if needed.

If you dislike guardian support you won't like Warrior.

Engineers are best in WvW either as solo roamers or in small harassment groups, or full DPS with grenades in large group combat. There are definitely some decent support builds but it's not the Engineer's strength in WvW (imo) and other classes do it better.

Might go Elementalist for support then.. Thanks guys :)

EDIT: But Warrior has a good range weapon, guardian doesnt. :P

I dunno about that. Engi's can literally spam AOE healing and maintain perma upkeep on a light field if specced properly, while still being able to CC enemies galore and provide terrific area denial.

Have you personally tried it though? I haven't, so I certainly can't speak for it, but if it were that viable I'd think I would have seen it highlighted somewhere. Maybe it's simply because most players don't consider support "fun" so it doesn't get much attention. I do greatly respect your opinion on the profession in WvW though.

Sure, engi's can do all that stuff.

Just not as well as ele's, imo.

I'd rather see engineers playing to their strengths, and crank out that aoe damage.

Engineer is best for small raiding parties, elementalist best for large groups.

The warrior isn't well-suited for direct support.  It's support options are situational (fearing enemies off cliffs, fast revives, banners and shouts for faster takedowns).

I think what you guys are touching on is the reason it isn't seen much. It's not as fun. The Engi is too good at being the Grenadier or the skirmish pro, and its a ton of fun. I personally feel that Engi is one of if not the best skirmish profession, but I am pretty biased being an Engi since launch with no real alts lol

Nah I've personally only messed with the support stuff in sPVP just to make "you can't kill me" builds to be a douche rofl

You will be sorely disappointed with the warrior's ranged abilities.

Guyz dont go ENG if you wanna go max in healing/support, i would advise go Elem best healer/support there is while WAR shouthealing/banners is a good 2nd spot for me.....Guardians aswell ofc but that was not in his question.

Not to be a negative nancy or anything, but isn't support pretty much the only thing the ele is good at when compared to an equally skilled and equipped opponent?

I dont want to be the best support there is, just a fun support profession. And i think Engineer is the one. + Grenade spam for some wall defense and wall killing in WvW = Awesome. :P
