Just to start by saying I'm at work so between blocked pages and slow connection I am having a hard time finding any information on this.....

More and more posts I am seeing comment on Nov 15th and that thiefs are screwed? is there a big nerf patching coming down or what? only thing I keep finding is infomration on the new zone but nothing on Thief changes beside the posts about gloom and doom for thiefs.

anyone have a good link or information they can post would be appricated.

November 15th, the Lost Shores update is being released. It will - as you stated - involve the release of a 3 day event, a small island, a new (beta) sPvP map, a new style of dungeon, etc.

But, along with that release we should all expect that there will be a "standard" patch involved.

I believe the discussion you're looking for can be found here, also relating to the official forum thread where J. Sharp had this to say:

"Just wanted you guys to know we’re looking at this specifically right now. We will probably bring down the raw spike DPS for some builds, but we’ll be careful to increase other areas to compensate."

Hope that helps!

About the new map, will people actually be able to play it if its in beta? Or do they mean that it is subject to change?  Personally, a new map is the most exciting thing I've heard in a while (pumpkins, yay).

The new map will be field tested by the public, so yes everyone should be able to play it. Then, if the public decides they like it/everything is working smoothly, it will be put into the permanent sPvP rotation.

If you only do well because of backstab , you should be worried. If you wreck people without backstab, look forward to your buffs.

I'm looking forward to buffs then :)

@Al Shamari
Thanks for answering my question!

thanks for the info, I have ran both cond and bs builds. By far for my play style I like the BS build more. I hope they don't totally mess it up. From what I read its all tested on PVE mobs which is stupid. I ran the BS build from when I had poor gear to now that I am almost 100% geared out and without a doubt when I was earning my gear I rarely 2 shotted people and lost more then I won, now with good gear its about 60% of the time I can 2-3 shot someone and out of the 60% and about 25% or more of those players I can tell they are geared poorly. With testing on PVE mobs it doesn't account for what gear the thief has (testing I presume its the exotic only) and the various levels of gear other players will have.

I predict that BS will be nerfed into the ground, most will go some type of surv/cond and sooner or later that builded will become OP by the cry babies and it will be nerfed and BS will come back.....welcome to the regular MMO...

Unless backstab is nerfed by like 50% (lol, 4k on glass cannons, 2-3k on decent people? even autoattack would be better) I have no reason to switch from D/D.
It's lots of fun for me due to requiring positioning, timing and stealth management - I find the other setups too facerollish for my tastes.
Then again if PW was decreased by 15% I can't see them doing worse on backstab since it requires stealth and it's positional.

I believe they should instead disallow to "charge" CnD before steal.
If they did, people would have 1 second or more from steal to backstab, so they would have no reason to cry again because it would be 100% L2P issue.
I already don't use charged CnD because I find it gimmicky and I want it changed.

Yes this ^. Steal needs a short cast time. Primary QQ issue solved.

I've read a few things along the lines hinting at another major nerf for thieves coming soon and huge incoming ranger and engineer revamps, and I do have to share my input on this.  I left other mmos because of the constant revamp->buff->nerf->repeat cycle for all classes in the name of "balance".  It's actually just a sneaky way by developers to try increase longevity and reduce boredom in a game by pushing (or essentially forcing) players to play and level characters in different classes.

Anet keeps lots of metrics on the number of players playing each class.  It's pretty easy to take the #1 and #2 played classes, revamp or nerf them, buff the #7 and #8 classes...which pushes all those players to re-roll, learn the new class, go through the content again, get new gear, maybe even a new legendary, etc....all the while buying more gems and keeping the environment populated which encourages others to do the same.

I'm just saying...it's not very hard to make the classes equal in strength.  I don't buy the "it takes us years of repeated patching/nerfing/buffing" to make classes balanced.  Technical programming details aside, I think most of us could balance the classes fairly easily.  The problem is that for companies that play this re-balance for re-playability game, profession balance will never happen.  There is a big incentive for them not to ever balance things.  I HOPED ArenaNet was different and above that.  But I'm definitely starting to have my doubts...

Except nerfs have a very small impact on PvE play I've found. Yes, they do affect PvE play, but builds can pretty much always remain viable in PvE play as long as you simply know what you're doing.

Nerfs hit the hardest on PvP, and since in Guild Wars PvP, there is no leveling needed to jump right in... this argument doesn't really hold very well.

I'm really hoping for a backstab nerf so that all these bandwagging thieves can piss off back to warrior or what ever else they came from.

am i the only one looking fwd to the changes on 11/15? Maybe cuz i play a d/p build and actually use 1-5 keys and enjoy using all the skills, etc? Im not hating on anyone and yes i do use steal + backstab as well as black powder + hs for stealth but i feel they might nerf the steal-cnd-bs combo but might actually make us better in other aspects? Dunno if im being too optimistic and its all doom and gloom but we'll find out in less than 1 week!

I would say different

If you use MUG/CnD/Steal combo then expect a nerf (possibly executioner to nerfed to 15%)

BS will remain "as is"

After the whole Ascended gear fiasco with Anet's poor communication to players, I'm a little turned off by the game lately. I really hope this patch contains some good stuff for Thief, despite the prospect of even more nerfs.
