All I can say is, take muddy terrain in WvW. Nothing's funnier than trapping an enemy invader just outside of the safety of their fortress!

Seriously though, I love the longbow for a burst build. I couple the rapid fire with quickness and high crit rate/damage to drop about half of an enemy's health in PvE. It's not quite as awesome in WvW, but it still works well. Take Piercing Arrows and Eagle Eye to also boost the longbow.

Try this:

Be sure to swap weapons from time to time to maintain might (which also boosts condition damage) and most importantely, use combo fields from healing spring and flame trap. Of course try to flank your oponents if and whenever possible.

I can recommend the dual-bow trapper's build, been using it in PvE since the launch of Gw2 and I can confirm that it works great in dungeons and DE's (I got the dungeon master title as well for what it's worth).
Here's a link to the build:

Here's how it works: you basically use the longbow for skills  3 and 5 (perhaps 2 if you have to wait for weaponswapping) and the shortbow for the rest. After that you switch weapons every now and then and keep using your traps for extra dps / combo fields.

Carrion equipment + runes of the undead and chrysocola jewelery. Since ranger has poor condition removal you need HP in addition to your damage.

ps.

Carrion = Power+condition damage+Vitality
Chrysocola jewelery = Power+condition damage+Vitality

Here you go: http://gw2skills.net...qkUtoYQxxhdEPHA
I run two bears so they always live long enough to last the 20 seconds until the next swap. Enjoy.

Does the 3rd skill of the longbow works against bosses in dungeons?

Also, if you guys can share some other builds that keeps the warhorn, it would be much appreciated. I like giving Call of the Wild to allies, plus it also serves as my ticket to dungeons since people want that extra damage.

If you want a crit based direct damage build, I would suggest this for dungeons:
http://gw2skills.net...pogxAjAG7POYkwA

This is just talents and weapons.  Choose whatever pets best fit the situation.  I.e. if your group is lacking support, bring a Moa for protection shout.  If you're fighting a boss that chews up melee, use a spider or devourer.  If you're fighting a boss that is rough on pets, bring a ranged pet or bear.  If there are a lot of conditions, bring a brown bear.  If the boss won't touch your pet hardly at all, bring a jaguar for more direct damage.  etc, etc.  You get the point.

This build uses both bows: If you can't get behind your enemy and can get some distance, use the long bow.  Also, target the farthest back enemy in the direction your are shooting to take advantage of Piercing Arrows.  This can work really well with Point Blank Shot if you want to put some space between you and a few enemies.

Also, change your slot skills as needed.  If you run all dungeons with the same slot skills and pets the whole time, you're really cheating yourself.  Sometimes condition removal is great, other times you're better off with an aoe snare, and sometimes it doesn't really matter, so you can just bring skills that boost your dps.

tl;dr This is a basic template.  Use common sense and knowledge of the dungeon you are running to improve this to your tastes.

Nice builds guys, I have been running the trapper builds for quite a while now and was looking for something new just to try out. I think I will give the crit builds a go and see how it works.

However after reading that there are a lot of changes coming to the ranger in an upcoming patch I think I will hold off till after the patch and see what happens.

Thanks again for posting these builds.
