Good news for those that have yet to buy Guild Wars 2 but want to try it out! On November 12th, ArenaNet will implement Refer a Friend Free Trial:

Quote

We want you to experience Guild Wars 2 and Lost Shores with your friends, so on Monday November 12, we will turn on Refer a Friend Free Trial. You will be able to invite up to 3 Friends to play Guild Wars 2 with you for free from November 15-18.

To do so, you need a Guild Wars 2 account in good standing that was created before 23:59 PST (7:59 GMT) on November 6.

We will give you more details once the program goes live, but start thinking about who you want to invite! [Source]

Dangit, 2 minutes before I was going to post it (just teasing ya) :P

This is very good news though, maybe I can now get some more RL friends in the game now. :D

If they want us to play this new Lost Shores content with our trial account friends, that seems like it could mean one of two things.  Either trial account players will have the opportunity to scale themselves to whatever level of content they want to play (or perhaps just this content specifically), or the new content itself will scale all players to a specific level.

I think it will be like the Mad King's Realm where you will be scaled up to 80.

Hope that PvP will be avaliable for those that we refer . I have some friends really keen on trying it out but still unsure if they want to buy the game.

yes thats right. i think they said that you get there from Lions Arch and they want it to be open for all players (& not only level 80 characters)

Help me understand the quote.

Can my invited friend start playing on Nov 12 until Nov 18 or is it only from Nov 15 to Nov 18?

It sounds like you can start inviting people to play on November 12th, but they won't be able to start playing until the 15th-18th.

I was just answering your question, I don't know why Arenanet did it the way they did.

They seem to be giving invitees a few days to download the client.

Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter.

Glad to see that they are implementing this.  I've been looking to get my friends involved for some time now, but no one is willing to drop $60 on a game that they haven't seen played before, and being in college, I can't show them gameplay in real life.  This is a great option for me personally, and I am grateful.

I was really excited when I read this, having a few friends who have been on the fence about whether or not to get the game, between the $60 price tag and the media coverage about how GW2 is a different sort of MMO. This will make it so GW2 can speak for itself through all its elements of gameplay, rather than me trying to explain and promote it (as inelegant as I am at it :P). Its also helpful for two of my friends who have older computers and aren't 100% sure that their comp will be able to handle GW2, so this will give an opportunity for them to try it out without having to invest the money in it, given the possibility of it not working.

Now just to get server guesting, and we'll be all set! :)
