I'm curious to know if anyone is with me on this idea, Invisible dye, as a color.

I think it'd be great if there was a dye color that just made a piece of armor invisible. I think it would add more customization to armor, so that we could essentially remove a part of it if we wanted to.

That would be kind of neat to get rid of certain sections, I don't know if it would be technically feasible though. Barring that they could just add a toggle to each armor piece like shoulders, back and hat already have. Maybe not allow pants and top to be toggled off or you'd just have idiots running around naked going lolz all day.

Well as wvw and PvP automatically changes the color of your dyes to your team colors I don't see why not for that. But I think it wouldn't work because say for instance you wanted to get rid of buttons on a coat with the invis dye. There's no material behind those buttons and would straight through to your character model.

I can already see thives with only their face visible..

It's a cool idea, but it might cause some problems as it makes your character a lot harder to notice, even with the gigantic red name floating above you.

EDIT: I forgot about sPvP team colors, but what about WvW?

Right now its not possible, because our characters dont use underwear when they have normal armor equipped :P

Ye i know it looks like a silly awnser but its a very valid one , Anet cant have naked chicks running around and keep their pegi 12 rating, you know that the very first thingh players will do is make naked chicks right XD ?

There was already an incident like this before, some players managed to transmute racial armor to others races , the game wasnt coded to deal with it, result, the other race char that used the armor was totally naked, and i mean TOTALLY :), for a shorth time the game had 100% naked chicks running around in the citys and thinghs like that lol.

PS: i dont have anythingh against naked chicks in the game, im 29 ;) , its just it wouldnt sit "well" with the more "delicated flowers" part of the gamers comunitty and they would conplain nonstop to cover the boobzzzz of the chars because its the devilzzzz .

Invisible as in you characters looks like it has holes, or as in 100% transparent, thus showing the skin ?

But anyway seeing how most dye patters are, it wouldn't work really work because it would look really, really weird.

They kind of do. Pretty much all female light armor wearers can confirm that. Their panties can be dyed...

Please no. I've heard from friends what invisible dye did to D3 >_> They already give us the option to hide shoulders, masks/helments and backpieces.... I think that's fine as it is. Metal bikinis do provide more protection than regular bikinis in the end.

i was talking about making the chest piece invisible....you know, because when your using a chest piece or pants your underwear goes puff, all of it...this was proved with the racial armor on wrong chars exploit, some light armor shows underwear becuase that specific underwear is part of the armor model, the true underwear, the one you get when you try to get naked, that one is disabled as soon as you put armor on.

Back before they patched it you could buy cultural armor that is not of your race, and transmute the skin onto your wearable armor. Since there was no armor skin existant for the wrong race it showed up invisible. So a person could run around in full exotic naked armor.

Not invisible dye, but Mirror Dye could be awesome.

Wrong. Those are part of your legs armor slot. There was a bug early in november that had completely naked characters running around, google it since Im too lazy to find pics for ya.

Wasn't too sure which thing you were referring to (thus the "kind of do"). My point was that because some leggings had panties, it could be possible to hide everything else except that, if Anet ever decided to implement an invisible dye and change the dye patterns.

Well, all our characters have underwear, I don't think it would be too much of a coding challenge to have them show through if that was the part of the armor that you made transparent. I understand there was a bug that made them naked, but if it was an intended feature, they could easily fix it.

For me, it's more about customization, considering there really aren't that many armor looks you can go for. This, along with perhaps more tailoring recipes for town clothes, or maybe even some shops in towns. Hey, now there's an idea, clothing shops in racial towns.

They have a good formula with this game, I just wish there were more ways to make yourself look just how you want. All of this stems from my starting a new thief and realizing the only armor I like for her is the human tier 3, because it seems to be one out of maybe 2-3 armors in the game for medium that shows even a little skin, but after realizing it was going to cost some ridiculous amount of coin, I've decided I'm not sure I'm even going to bother leveling the character.

Yeah, I'm one of those guys that used to play the sims and spend all my time downloading extra clothes.

Perhaps they can just make an option to toggle off every armour piece, not just shoulder/helmet ..

Most of the underwear is pretty fugly.

I really don't need to see dragon slayers running around in blue boxers hiked up to their belly buttons or pink, techno leotards.

nope nope nope nope nope nope nope.

The 2 pieces of armor that actually need a hide option (head and shoulders, 3 if you count the backpack accessories) already have a hide option.  The game needs more armor selection, not the ability to hide the existing options.

I agree with this as well, but having one doesn't mean we can't have the other.

As much as I would like to get rid of boots on my casters and rangers or chest armor armor on my warriors - having "invisi dye" or toggles for all armor will only make people do what people in Lineage did... running around in their underwear/bathing costume... I rather give up my abbility to get what I want then to see every other person running around with no armor on.

Let's have legendary dyes. I don't want those dyes because if everyone uses them it will be painful for the eyes, just like stumbling upon a Cursed shore full of bots wearing The Dreamer. But if they are painful to craft like a lengendary weapon, at least not everyone would have it and abuse it.

They could do that, the tech is already in the game with the sylvari skin glowing at night.
