Don't get me wrong. Server pride and field victories are fantastic, and that's my main focus. But towards the end of the week or during lulls in field combat, I LOVE the jumping puzzle pvp.

Today myself and a guildie were going through the jumping puzzle and we got a bunch of pvp till the trap room (I was on my Ele) and we got beat by 5 [NYS] in the trap room. He's a thief (emmawatsonlookalike) so I swapped to my mesmer, we went back in, and broke them out of the room.

Pulled the guy down off the arrow cart, and then teleported up the rocks, shadow refuged across the ledge and killed the remaining NYS at the top.

Then proceeded to just fight other people as we could till NYS brought their entire guild, and pushed everyone out.

Fun times. Now we generally will not defeat lowbies. Most of the time it's the pleasure of murdering other geared 80s and the figuring out the various combat strategies of getting through the puzzle WHILE in combat/fighting.

Good times in the jumping puzzle all week (eb jp) and if it wasn't for my Commnader responsibilities on the map, or doing my part for the war effort of the server I would probably spend most of my time in jumping puzzle just for the focused small scale pvp.

I do the puzzles and I like the challenge but the camera faults are so annoying they are becoming a chore that I do to complete the map.
Alt characters will not bother until they fix the camera view.

Sry I was so keen to moan about camera views I didnt notice it was a pvp question

I'm a huge fan of the puzzles. I hear a few folks scoff at it, but overall it's one of my favorite side things about GW2.

- I want that purple stuff.

JP PvP is the closest to random encounter World PvP in the game. I like it a lot, and love doing it when point leads or losses are insurmountable.

1st rule: you do not talk about the jump puzzles
2nd rule: you DO NOT talk about the jump puzzles.
3rd rule: if someone waves or otherwise /emotes, shows neutrality - the fight does not start.
4th rule: only two worlds fight at a time
5th rule: only camp one area at a time
6th rule: no logging, no mapping out
7th rule: The camping will go on as long as it has to
8th rule: if this is your first time at the jump puzzle - you HAVE to fight.

Don't really see any way you can do it if your server is not winning. Even if you somehow make it to near the top, the top server will have people camping the wells and chokepoints near the end. All your work for nothing. Now that I'm on the top server, I just wait for a mesmer to portal people up.
P.S. Anyone see that pic of someone supposedly getting a Dusk from the chest in Eternal Battleground JP?

I like it a lot (and yes, I saw the dusk drop on reddit thread). I know a lot of people don't like it because it draws people away from the main fights, but it basically balances out in the end (it's going to draw people from all the servers). Best opportunity for random encounters. I love it.

It can be fun at times but for a small group the PvP is far better for the majority, outside the JP.

Jumping puzzle is a great way to find some action when things are quiet, especially when it's one of those lopsided matches where fighting slacks off later in the week.  And the reward is desirable without being so big that everyone has to do it to compete economically.  I quite like them.

Jumping in again to say its a little strange imo to have things in wvw that don't aid in winning.

I want the wolf as a pet its in the wvw area so I am likely to want to enter that arena avoid all the other content just to cap the wolf at least once.
Ditto the jumping puzzle.

Why not have a wvw reason to do the puzzle put something at the top that's important to capture or hold.

Perhaps siege equipment doesn't help you win in wvw. For the rest of us, it does.

Agree on this. If it didn't waste players in population cap I'd be all for it. Everything the OP originally said, only when I essentially decided to "Retire"/take a break from WvW did I finally discover how this was the closest thing to open world PVP as it gets in GW2. Have a guildie that is still levelling and in general very insecure about "having the right build for WvW", whenever his ass is done we'll come and do this properly. Need at least one person if not a few others watching each others backs in there.

They really need to take this stuff out of WvW and put it into the world.

You get free siege blue prints. That is enough WvW incentive.

If I get ganged in the puzzle with no provocation I'll just go the the character select screen before I get downed. Because you don't deserve the loot and F.U.

I'm really indifferent about the JPs. They left a bad taste in my mouth early on, as did the fn Grub, when we'd be getting face wrecked by HoD and there would be people in map chat whining for help with them. I do however, love to read QQ threads on the official forums about why X player hates being camped in them. Those are lulzy sometimes.

Umm.. another way is just get even with them.  Gang up on them, kill them, and dance/laugh whatever on their dead corpses.
