Medium armor that is not a trench coat

I mean I'm sure they do, but damn, seems like every singe one has some stupid oversized coat that negates any visual appeal of pants or boots.
Maybe its worse because I'm an asura?
Any recommendations on non trench coat armor?

Also, what rifle is that and how did you get it?

There's a few that do not involve a "trench coat" --- The duelist set, for example. You can look them up on google, all the medium armor available in game.

It's the Super Hyperbeam Alpha and I got it on the Mystic Forge, gambling rares for my precursor. I got really happy, then I realized that on the TP is like 2g. I love the skin though.
And yeah, total cost of T3 is 120g, but as you already know, there is a problem with medium armor looks, T3 as an asura was the only skin I wanted. I transmuted a Berserker's Emblazoned set with it.
A cheaper alternative could be T2, looks pretty badass too.

Just be glad you don't have a tail, us charr get the real bad end of the stick, armour-wise.

Anyway, I just rolled a Charr Engi and enjoyed every bit of her EXCEPT the armor... Okay, I know I just started so there aren't many to choose from, but by reading this thread, flipping through armor gallery pages and tried a few dungeon armors in preview, I have to agree with everyone that the tail clipping is horrible! And the fact the charr is spreading their legs wide makes them look like a tent from the back... *sigh*
So far the only one I remotely like is the T1 Charr culture armor, which is nice enough to the eyes, kind to my tail and okay to my purse. ^^"

I'm liking the look of the superior studded actually. Thanks for the links.

This drives me insane. It's like we have wire framework on the lower half of all our trenchcoats, it sucks. It even poofs outward in the front which doesn't make any sense at all!
For non-coats, I like the Noble set (sans shoulders) and the Svanir set (sans mask) a lot, even though the latter kind of flares out the back strangely a little. My Noble set is the chest w/ Rascal pants and boots, and whatever helm (I use the Eagle Eye which is just like the Noble helm anyway) and you look Dudley-tier classy.

So I am not alone! Its pretty ridiculous and I hope it gets fixed along with armor clipping charrs seem to have - Save the fat norn!
I may have to look into the set you mentioned - although I much rather 'normal' trenchcoats just looking as they should.

Are you sure that someone else can do it for you? because I just tried transmuting something that was soulbound to one of my characters onto a cheap white piece of armor and it left it account bound.

The rest of the gear is all "Temple" gear because I like the way it makes my character look big and bulky (despite being the smallest possible Charr I could make).

I can confirm that it still works. I bought the orders armor, transmuted them to some cheap low level white armor, which gave me the "Transmuted items will become soulbound" warning, but in the end they came out account bound and I just transferred them through storage. Here's a screenshot, notice how I haven't picked an order with this character yet.

I just want to make a correction here, sorry this response is 8 days later.
The previous poster you are quoting and correcting said something different than what you are explaining here. He said Cultural, not Order. Cultural was fixed several weeks/patches ago since it was possible on some combinations to make the armor invisible on Human (Female to be exact, not sure about males). This led to some sillyness with people having anatomically correct nudes (with blanks in the right spots cause they don't get that detailed...) so Anet had to fix it asap.
I thought Orders transmutes were soul binding after the recent update, so not sure about your claim. Proceed with caution is all I can say.

The "if you transmute an item it will become soul bound" is showing up on all items. I was still able to transfer a thief hood onto my engineer yesterday.

Same with warriors. Though my norn shorty-fatty warrior called Bulbous picked up some karma gear along the way that has no skirt. Instead it has armour parts on the outer thigh and hip that makes the bottom silhouette wider so he looks like he has a diaper on under a big romper suit - I love it. The dresses were crinolines
