Legendary Precursors Nerf

To bad that now Legendary weapons have nothing legendary attached to them, it`s just grind/time consuming. They should involve more world exploring, boss fights, achievements, something that has to do with player activities not how much money he has. I hope they`ll fix that at a point.

The mighty Zommoros has slightly increased the drop rate on Legendary precursor weapons from the Mystic Forge from both Rares and Exotics.

This is not what I had in mind.

Dat Scavenger Hunt. Why must Anet be so vague. I understand what slightly means, but I wonder if that is like 50 less combines with rares to get a precursor. Either way I'm slightly grateful for this change.

Wish it was just more of an actual journey than a grind or gold splurge. Got Incinerator for my Necromancer and looking back at it there really isn't much I can brag about other than playing Auction House Wars, Orichalcum Runner 2012, and Lodefarmer Simulator. Then again this may just be nostalgia biting me in the ass comparing it to getting Jedi on SWGEmu where you traveled around the galaxy and would bring a friend along since it could get a little rough.

The following post is speculation, if the prices does not get unreasonably low/high, then good job arena net. The following speculation is mostly "what if".

I'm torn. There are many precursors that are very cheap compared to the more pricy ones. I can't help but think about "supply and demand" here. The scepter costed around 70g the last time I checked (2 days ago), because it's not a very popular legendary. The greatsword precursors cost 300g give or take a few, because it's incredibly popular due to looks, effects, classes that can enjoy it and so forth.

Dusk and Dawn cost 300g because there are people who are willing to pay that much. If no one was willing to pay it, guess what, the price would be lower, like the other precursors.

Legendaries in this game does not make you a better player, does not enhance your DPS/stats (it's slightly better than exotic after the patch, but defenitely nothing that will make much of a difference), thus, it's a toy. If it's your final goal, work for it. Don't want to put in the effort? Don't make one. In the end it's just another skin.

I think the change comes too soon, or too late. Right now, they are possibly (we'll see how much this affects the prices etc) spitting in the face of the players who created a legendary the past few weeks before the price increase of the more expensive precursors. If they made the change in a year, most people with legendaries (yes even the ones who created it while the prices were at its peak) would care less.

Note: I do not like how the process of making a legendary was made to begin with, I too would have liked to see a more challenging, less of a "you just farmed more/better than most people" kind of skin.

Great, they changed the drop rate from .0001 to .0002?  WTF was that BS about a scavenger hunt?

I hope so, because the rare items used to acquire precursors just doubled in price, so unless "slightly increased" means "more than doubled" then we just got screwed.

Just don't worry about the precusor for now. Get the rest of the stuff and then buy it when it's a lot cheaper.

I see this advice, but it seems weird to say that when the prices have only gone up.  It's like buying gems for gold:  the price fluctuates around events, but it only goes up.

Hopefully the drop rate didn't just go from .0001 to .0002, but even if it increased ten fold that's still so low that most will never see it.  Ultimately the trading post will let us know how much less rare it is.

Edit:  Actually, just checking:  Dusk has dropped slightly over the last two days, and the buy orders had a huge dip.  I'm guessing all the hoarders are dumping their stash on high buy orders because they're worried they won't be able to keep them as long-term investments.  So in the end, whether or not Anet even changed the rate, it's certainly helped some people!  :)

I had/have everything i need for my legendary, except the damn precursor. I saw the chance increase and hoped that maybe i would for once be lucky.

Guess what? I was bit in the ass by RNG. 100 rares resulted in only rares. Overall, 152 rares produced 1 last rare. Not a single exotic. It makes me feel..not angry, not frustrated..but simply disheartened. Staffs are expensive and to be honest, I noticed that when i go for  4 x staffs, the results are always crap.

So far 400 rare staffs were sacrificed (without the aditionals) and 32 staff exotics. Maybe one day...

I'm in your same boat, except I have not tried my luck much with the mystic forge. Stories like yours have kept me from gambling much. I don't think I could come back from a heavy gold loss like that, too disheartening like you said.

Same boat here aswell - everything but the precursor. Orr is pretty well dead now so I've got no idea how I'm going to get gold for precursor lol

Actually, when ascended weapons will be online, legendary weapon will be even over them, the topend weapon ever.
So ye, twilight, sunrise , and any other now so expensive weapon will worth the hassle , just to be the most powerful around with a complete set ascended + legendary. Did you play/read about wow? Gear grind, you know. The old good days when legendary was just a skin are finish ;) What we can only pray, for a drop of the price, is more precursors around, if they truly made the precursor a bit easier..

And you truly believed it? Guess the "hunt" is regarding new precursors, who knows. Maybe they just changed their mind at all. So many things would be online, and never arrived. Did you know, during halloween, was developed a computer controlled GUILD you was going to confront, during halloween, and fight against this guild worldwide on various spots, like a big enemy always on your back?

That's false. Legendary weapons will be updated to be on-par with Ascended Weapons.

Well hopefully they'll get closer or under 100g. Unless you got a random precursor from the chest, you're still looking to fork out at least 150g. The RNG gods have failed me yet again.

More world exploring? Just curious how does 1 explore more than 100% of the map? ;)
Also boss fights... Are usually at events which grant karma and are part of this grind you are complaining about. If they made a certain checklist of bosses (which I'm assuming is what you mean) it would still be a grind, just a different kind of grind.

Finally have you looked at the costs of the mats and everything else required for it? It's still about "how much $ one has" and the "grind" even if they make the precursors easier to get.

What you said sounds nice but ultimately just reveals your ignorance. I'm ok with them making precursors easier to get for many reasons... But please add to the discussion with meaningful posts not just join the qq bandwagon.

Ps: the thing I'm the most excited about are the "new legendaries" in the works. As a thief I would love a non-girlie epic looking short bow or pistol.

Their skins aren't legendary anyway, except for a few.

To OP, sell it, it is probably NOT going to go up, since it is the price of the legendary's that is usually argued on.

About the change, they are probably going to give us some detection tool, have us travel the world of Tyria, with a 1% chance of coming across a gift to craft the legendary, that's my guess anyway.

Realistically, its probably going to effect the cost of the items, they will most likely lower the amount needed of drops, but make the drops non tradeble. This is just my thinking of how they would solve the gold problem, even though it doesn't really solve the problem as a whole, but I've seen it done before...

All I hope is that making the legionaries an actual "Quest", like a separate story, not a "Login and farm here for a bit today, farm a bit here tomorrow, etc".

There needs to be crazy near-unsolo'able solo instanced quests for legendaries.

It would end up like GW1 only if Anet implements it exactly like GW1, but who said it has to be?

If the reward (ie: a gift or a precursor) is soulbound, how would you get it transfered to the character of your choice?
Or, what if every profession gets its own version or path?

It was on there last night...probably before...is 9500 the most you can price an item?!  I would have thought 9999...
