We'll prolly get minor, insignificant, PvP-unviable buffs to things such as venoms and traps in return.
It'll be BWE Thief state all over again.
Most Thieves will reroll Warrior "lolKillshot 1shots 3 people from 1500 range, it's fine because you can dodge it tho" gimmick.
Some will go with S/P chainstun which a lot of people will cry about after 15th (next nerf will be our daze duration I bet).
A few will stick to it regardless.

i expect my build to benefit from the compensation that has been described.
"Just wanted you guys to know we’re looking at this specifically right now. We will probably bring down the raw spike DPS for some builds, but we’ll be careful to increase other areas to compensate."

I want to see our buffs. I don't care about nerfs. Making new and unique builds to beat the current meta is always fun. We WILL see a Pistol Buff, especially to #1 skill. I also predict a buff to make of our utility skills.
I predict:
- Backstab -> from x2 multiplier to an 1.5x multiplier
- Cloak & Dagger -> Vulnerability time Decreased, with a slight decrease in damage
- Heartseeker -> Reduction to the below 25% threshold so it is inline with the the other two (At a 30% increase instead of the current 40% approx)
- Dancing Dagger -> Maximum target reduction
- Spider Venom -> Lower attack usage (reduced to 2?)
- Disabling Shot -> Slight increase in Damage
- Vital Shot -> Huge increase in damage and Bleed Damage
- Headshot -> Daze time lengthened
- Venoms/traps will have an increase in damage
- Mug (Trait) -> Decrease in power
- Numerous other traits...

A change here could probably fix some of the backstab burst combos too.

So PvP unviable things will turn into PvP viable things and faceroll FotM will be toned down. What's not to like?

Short bow is so *ing OP it's ridiculous if they don't nerf cb I will be amazed.
Seriously mugging in for fury from thrill of the crime and then spamming 5-7k crits with 3 stacks of bleed for 5 seconds is stupid good in WvW.

stealth+burst is fine imo, especially since Thief is squishy and melee, the only problem I've ever had with it is the frequency at which you can use backstab burst rotations
And clusterbomb nerf would make me sad
