I'd say COD BO2 and halo 4 and boredom of the same repetitive play type with no updates or good balance changes or just a real lack of care for the PVP scene (both WvW and sPvP) probably about covers it, it can be seen on almost all servers I'm guessing.

Not to de-rail but I know I personally was playing both Halo 4 and Cod and took a break for a while, although its some what discouraging seeing no changes still for pvp or WvW really, I know from at least back when I played IoJ's presense has dropped significantly, honestly I see these as the reasons...

Yea we're still in action! From 500 players since GW2 start, down to somewhat 50-70 actives. WvW attendance used to be around 10-20ppl everyday but after the LS patch hit, ppl been on farming mode lately but still WvW occassionally

We all awared that GW2 will lose interest at times if WvW and things aint get  fixed however we still need to endure the periodic loss for both server and us! Until then, plenty of fun in WvW and Good luck to you too!

Carry on. I'm sure I can say both RQ and Cond wishes the best for our server. (unless GW2 undergoes a huge fun update... i doubt you'll see us again. but we'll always be rooting for our server.)

I'm burned out from the days of Titan and AA and basically have retired competitively for good or at least for the long term to be top tier at RL instead Know the WvW map too well now as well and am a bit bored

But I came back to this forum since I was curious as to why BG hit a wall as of late. Good to at least see Thai and LoTD from the ET days still around from too

These guys are why you want to join BG if you are playing in their timezone! Great pvpers that gets the job done.
BG is still one of the only NA servers with 24/7 coverage. While it is low at times ( some time zones only have a couple of dedicated WvW guilds ) you will always find someone out there to coordinate and communicate with.

The server has has stood the test of time, and proofed to be top NA contender. As a EU guildmember playing on a NA server, I can only say that we have never regret moving. Constant fights, no queues and coverage when you go to bed. What more can you wish for?

It is pretty decent.. I am an east coast yank who plays off hours too. There is a lot of West Coast players it seems on BG so there is a lot of them playing during those hours if looking for American players. And we have a lot of Oceanic/Asian players as well. We have a decent Oceanic presence in WvW and there is also dungeons being run at those hours as well. The Asians are usually pretty good at English as well so there isn't much of a language barrier either. My best advice would be to try us out for a week, see how you like it. What is the worst that could happen?

Fighting outnumbered for weeks in Tier 1, we on Blackgate have learned that numbers aint everything, and to make use of what numbers we got. This video shows some fights from this matchup on a saturday in NA primetime, where we fight outnumbered. ( did anyone ever hear of queues? ) Blackgate understands that even small guilds are important if you want your server to succeed, and while we dont have big guilds like Warmachine on our server, having the guilds work together as we do, is what makes us strong.

thanks for the videos guys.  THAI and HB are amazing groups and i'm glad to be on a server with such players.

i was hesitant to try Blackgate myself but i wanted a server with more round the clock action than where i was.

surprised at how friendly, mature, and welcoming everyone on the server was to my friends and I.  

also surprising was after a couple of weeks i still haven't had to sit in a queue to wvw.  sometimes theres a light one on certain maps but never a long one more than a few minutes and not yet have i seen one on every map.

glad i saw this thread.  i never would have known a T2 server could be light on NA players but it is the case.

That's mostly what Blackgate is made up of. I don't think we have a single guild on the server that most people would classify as ginormous. For guilds that are WvW focused, I would say the largest guilds like KnT, LotD, ICoa, HB (and DEYS Alliance), URGE and Thai fall more into the "medium" category (sorry if I forgot anyone). The rest on the field are smaller guilds and militia (small groups of friends and solo players). This presents some challenges, as it can be more difficult to coordinate and communicate, but the server is always actively working on that and we've been improving.

In a nutshell, "small groups of friends" is a good chunk of what BG WvW is about.

Hmmm you have my attention. I'll see what I can do about bringing my friends over. Has anyone noticed when your server isn't listed as "Full" on the World Selection screen?

Also, I know this is off topic, but do you have a reasonable community for running Fractals/Dungeons/DEs? Dont want to land in a ghost town.

I can't speak for when we drop from "full" status - probably sometime after midnight PST though.

For fractals and dungeons we have a very active community; Lion's Arch is almost constantly on overflow during NA day time. As with all servers, I think most people are running Fractals so DEs in Orr are feeling a little neglected. Dragon events always seem to bring a good crowd with them though.

Left currently. But with the way the 3 servers coverage is all the borderlands change hands usually once a day so you'd likely have a chance to get those 2 PoIs.

Lords of the Dead has called Blackgate home for over a month. We're happy to say the group of people here are second to none in terms of heart.

At this time we need extra bodies during NA primetime. The people we do have out there are skilled and willing to listen, sadly more often then not this comes down to a numbers game.

We encourage anyone who likes good PvP (with no queue times) to give Blackgate a chance.

Trying to transfer but the chances of seeing the server at Very High is slim.

Tip on transfering
-We always try it on 10pm - 2am GMT+7. There usually be a small interval where u can (Blackgate on high). Keep refreshing at those time!
-After maintenance, there will always be small timeframe to transfer.
-Wait for Holiday event. E.g. during lostshore it's been all high for almost a week.

At the moment almost all servers are full so yea Anet will increase cap soon. So yea try on my tip first and see if u can find the interval to transfer.

Yea. Try to specifically attend at those timer i mentioned and see if u can find a spot. (Do it on weekday also help)  Keep refreshing those page (and login/out every 5min) at those time. Dont try occassionally, u need to be there at world transfer page keeping refreshing for 1-3 hours continuously at the time i mentioned. Dont do a rough check every 20min on entire day, it's not gonna work.

We used to transfer like 100 of our guildies to BG before, and it's been full like this. You just need to get the trick on the right timer to try Our server has best of both world (Full of PvEer and Good WvW) so yea it's as hard as transferring to tier1 server. But keep trying! Looking forward to see all of you in the battlefield!

PS: Glad to here u got it! Anyway, I can recommend u few guilds: HB is for EU timezone, LotD is for NA, Urge is for Oceanic. Thai is all about thai people and i dont think u will enjoy listen to thai language during WvW Anyway check it out at our website and u will find many recruitment page going on, pick ur like! http://www.blackgatewvw.com
