This may be a redundant question but I know the basic differences.
Ranger: Pet, longer range, medium armor
Warrior: No pet, short range, heavy armor.

I'm trying to decide on one but I need more in-depth like which one can survive longer in PvE, which can go harder in PvP, which does more damage, etc..

Warrior short range? You could theoretically run a longbow/rifle Warrior with tratied longbow range...

The ranger pet is pretty useless and add very little in WvW (unless there is a gazillion Rangers with pets, but then again a gazillion Warriors would also steamroll them). For survivability and damage, it all depends on the build.

Rangers are suppose to be getting a nice update here in novemeber, so i would wait and see before deciding. As of now warrior takes the cake in all of your categories sadly.

Survival Warrior, I wouldnt say warrior is the best class for pvp but ranger seems to be in worse shape as far as I know, In Pve I get 20,25k crits in optimal conditions in pve I can still hit for atleast 10k in a 1v1 probally more when I hit more people so my might stacks up faster.

To be honest I dont know much about rangers but i'm fairly sure that most of the things I mentiont are true. The 15th theres a big patch and they say there will be major changes to ranger and engineer so.

They're patching the engineer too? Awesome. I loved playing it but the DPS was eh...I guess I'll play my mesmer a bit more for now. 4 more days shouldn't hurt. :) I guess I'll make all of those toons. :D

But are the changes going to be drastic or just a bit of change?

The warrior has had the fewest changes of all classes,  so you can argue that it's probably the most stable profession.
So what you see now is what you will most  likely get.
Warrior pluses: Highest life pool, highest armor classes.  All weapon and utility skills are straightforward and follow a consistent theme.  Can spec for high crit dmg or for high condition damage with great success rates, while you can do decent CC and quick rezzing.

Ranger:  Shortbow, the machine gun of GW2.

Oh alright. I'm gonna go with warrior since I prefer stability. Plus I'd like a change from my mesmer and elementalist with a melee toon. :) Thanks guys.

Difference: Ranger is med armor and underpowered

Hopefully the "underpowered" part will change with the new patch but optimism leads to disappointment.
