I am working on a Guardian alt using notes I made during an early BWE. My goal is a 60/40 support/attack build.

Here is my current build (I sometimes swap a Hammer in for the Greatsword):

So far, it seems that I am falling short in both the support and attack roles. I was hoping someone would point me in the right direction.

Well it depends on what you wanna play.

For general PvE: just go full power, we got so much defense built in our skills, virtues you don't need to worry about defense, full power Greatsword will suffice for everything (even soloing veterans).

For dungeons there are a plethora on builds available.
Shouts, consecrations, boons, healing, all of these have different set-ups, but I'll try to give a general idea.

In teams guardians shine in the support role, as such you will mostly want to wield a hammer/staff/shield/scepter.
  • Hammer: Auto-attack gives protection (-33% dmg), with some traits, runes this is 100% upkeep.
2nd skill is epic for combos, 3rd skill is nice to immobilise enemies (even champs with defiant) to support allies.
4th skill is nice as a interrupt skill, and 5th skill is simply amazing to ball up mobs so your team can quickly spike them down with AoE.
  • Staff: Auto-attack is nice when used versus balled up mobs, but nothing special.
2nd skill is nice damage + heal, 3rd skill provides swiftness + healing when traited (perma swiftness with runes).
4th skill is a party-wide 12 stacks of might buff, which improves damage output + last blast heals for a nice amound.
5th skill is again very nice to ball up enemies.
  • Mace/Shield: auto attack provides healing, 2nd skill is a symbol which can heal again, 3rd skill is a block.
4th skill is a nice team support skill, nr5 is nice to protect your team from some ranged attacks or to push enemies out a certain area.

If you would want more specific help, feel free to ask. :)
