Oh come on, GW1 had me playing for 6 years without a gear threadmill.

5 years for me in GW1.  However, with GW2, the gear treadmill is probably the only way they could go for post-80 progression without, as I said (and which you quoted!), an almost complete redesign and rebalancing from the ground up.

Why does it matter to you? you don't need to get the armour. It's optional, even if its the stats are slightly better. Legendaries are also better and they were in before ascended. No one whined about that?

Legendaries weren't any better. Ignorance much?

Once this is implemented and these items are required to gain max stats, making current level 80 exotic gear obsolete, I'm done.
Well done, ArenaNet. You just had to shoot yourself in the foot again, right?

If it does go live though, Guild Wars 2 will be no different from all the WoW-like MMOs. The gold and achievement grinds were already there. All it lacked was the stat grind. Maybe ArenaNet wanted to complete the circle.

Infusion was the thing you had to do to finish storyline otherwise you would be as good as instantly killed by very narrow type of enemy that only shows up shortly After you get infused for the first time... It did nothing else, it did not make items have better stats...

Ill have to wait and see just how you get those items... but If past MMOs are anything to judge by... if those items are random drops or chest rewards from dungeons... they will go for x10+ times the price of exotics... Now... why couldn't we just upgrade existing gear.

FFS ArenaNet, what is the point of this addition? It's not going to appease the lootwh... hounds who got bored and left the game already. They're gone, they're not coming back. And it's clearly not a show of good faith for those of us who were on board with your vision for the role of Exotics.

Like others have said, I say suspending final judgment is probably a good idea. But on paper, this sounds like an awful design decision.

We honestly don't know if it will be difficult to get tbh or even how much better it will be. Even now the highest tier, exotics, is hilariously easy to get and honestly does not make you all that much better then someone not in exotics.

Currently I am neutral on this.

I was hoping for something like this (No sarcasm, I just want more challenges, and I hope that it takes time getting this armor).

Go home, you are drunk.

Exotics and legends have the same stats. Period.

"Aside from being a new type of foe, the karka also bring in new mechanics and skills. Part of the event will involve players racing around Tyria to try to figure out how to damage these baddies. You see, as they mature, karka develop a nigh-impenetrable outer shell, which players will have to get through to start doing meaningful damage."

Maybe the infusion is just the result of said "racing around" in order to damage them. Would they really add a new armor tier?
That would make all other armor obsolete. I think maybe you can ascend any and all exotic armor.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I have. And they have the same stats as exotics. Whether you like the skin or not is personal taste.

Until I actually see the quote directly from an ArenaNet employee I would take it with a grain of salt.

It would not be the first time Massively decided to post completely false information.

Sounds good imo.

Also Ascended means it comes from something, like a evolution, perhaps you can ascend any kind of exotic armor as you did in gw1.

Et tu GW2?

I hope the infusion is maybe how we can break the Karka shells?
You must get it infused before you are effective against them?
Maybe? hopefully or am I just grasping at straws?
cause if GW2 goes to a gear tread mill I might as well be playing a Trinity based old school MMO

Legendary's have the same stats as exotics.

But, oh well, you don't need to get exotics either. You'll do just fine in common-rarity merchant armor.

There's a lot of crap I'll just shrug off, like the Arah event being bugged for weeks, the bots running rampant, the weird crafting economy where selling the item is worth less then selling the materials it took to make it, the slow response in fixing culling, the ridiculous exotic pre cursor prices that are inflated by gold buyers buying them and selling them on their sites.

But if this is turning into a WoW clone where we will have to keep getting the strongest items with every other content patch then I'm sorry but I'm out. That is something I never thought I'd say, but that's where my line is.

That was sometime before or during release. They reduced the 50 or so damage advantage they had on exotics due to backlash. Now it'll be interesting to see what they'll do with all the backlash this is going to cause.

Indeed, but seeing as Massively seems to be to only site that have this "quote from ArenaNet" I wouldn't take it seriously until we get actual confirmation.

It already is turning into one. New dungeon, new better gear. From what we know, everything you've obtained so far in terms of armor and weapons was completely in vain.
